Jay Scheel

We're back. Six foot 170 lb white kid from suburbia Waterloo. Look out Alabama.

you're right, Drew Brees and Drew Tate were losers too. Mobile, small, white QBs are always terrible. Christiansen ruined it for Hawk fans apparently.

Two out of the probably thousands that never make it past HS to play in college. Oh don't forget to get back to 1984 and Doug Flutie.

Seriously, two small mobile white guys, which only 1 of whom you listed had an actual NFL career.

Sure, COULD they, yes, but most likely not.

You have to look at the odds and use real logic, not fairy tale dreams.

The game has changed a lot, and now having a mobile QB is considered better than having a tall pocket passer, unless the guy is named Andrew Luck.

Look how teams like Nebby do with small, mobile qbs that can't throw the football. Far better than Iowa has done with JVB. Russel Wison seemed to do pretty dang good. If Scheel is a decent thrower of the football then there is no reason he can't succeed at QB for Iowa.

you're right. we are kicking out NFL QB's in our pro-style system with our pro-style QBs, should just stick with that.

feel free to keep missing the point. which is, don't judge a player on his height alone. we need all the help we can get. would be nice to have an athletic QB again.

I get the point but the point doesn't make sense, two Drews and a Doug against thousands of players who never pan out are bad odds.

Besides, isn't that why they have "camps", if the coaching staff passes then it is for a reason.

why do you hate all white QB's? until you answer me that, i have nothing for you.

I don't HATE them, MeatMan, I don't make questionable remarks about race like my boy HawkeyeMHA. I just think that they are given their shot in the "camps", if they are really worth it, then they will get their offer and come play.

But thinking that because a couple guys over the span of the last 30 years played well doesn't mean anyone can do it. Those guys were special in their own way, Johnny football still is but he may get hurt or decline from here on out who knows. Drew Tate got worse as a QB during his time at Iowa and he never had a real NFL career.

Anyone who wants to play at Iowa I am all for it. But if the staff feels a kid is worth a scholarship over another I don't have any control over it so I trust they are doing what is best for the program.
