Jay Bilas now hates Iowa

Exactly. If you are going to say that SMU should be in, get the substitute team correct. But, that's the problem with these so-called experts : they are worse flip-floppers than many of our political candidates.

To be fair the Iowa players have kinda flip flopped.

So when the tourney went from 32 teams to 64 teams 33-64 didn't really get in unless they won their first round game right? Morons....

Actually, the "play-in game" used to be called the Opening Round game when the field went from 64 to 65. The Round of 64 was still the First Round. The switch to First Round for the "play-in games" started when the field went from 65 to 68.

At any rate....GO HAWKS!!!

Actually you are wrong...8 teams are in the first round...then there is the 2nd round which they call the round of 64...basically 60 teams get a bye. Which is stupid in my book but this is a NCAA tourney bid and that at least gives us a fighting chance.

ALL the talking heads have turned on us. Seth Greenberg had us in the Final four six weeks ago. Now he doesn't give us a chance against the Vols. Dakish has given up on us. Hell, I heard Bruce Pearl baggin' on us earlier tonight. Luckily,in the end, it doesn't mean one iota. At one point in this season I thought we could play with anyone. These are the same players. It solely up to them to get this turned around or we will be a quick out.

Huh? I don't think you read my post. I was talking about what the rounds were called when the field was 65 teams - Opening Round vs First Round. I know what they are called now.

Bilas is a massive tool. And Iowa is playing like crap. Not mutually exclusive.

Bilas is one of the best on TV actually, he isn't afraid to say what he thinks, but being a lawyer by profession, he actually presents an argument with it. He has been very vocal on the NCAA and exploiting athletes, he has been vocal for how coaches behave on the sidelines...what is funny is the game he was most vocal was an MSU game.

4 teams do not constitute a round when the next one has 64. The only reason they're called the first round now is because changing the name and adding power conferences to the mix was the only way to add teams and make people feel any urge to watch them.

So if Iowa loses, did they not make the NCAA tournament? Your argument is based on emotion because Iowa played poorly and it is almost like you are offended they are in the first round.

Again, let me clue you in...no matter how you feel about it. It is the first round and has always been called that. They are an 11 seed in the NCAA tournament. If you want to say they lose and never played in the NCAA tournament then you have the problem.

All the bs about "play in" or first round is just dumb. It isn't like if Iowa loses they will go to the NIT...just because there are a bunch of butthurt unrealistic people who bought in to what the media was saying doesn't mean Iowa is not an NCAA tournament team.

I have said it before but this board is bipolar and is being ruined because of it. Iowa is in the NCAA tournament and plays Tennessee in the first round, just because they played bad to finish the season doesn't take the birth to the NCAA tournament away, it is just not where a lot of people wanted to see them.

Look am I happy they are in the first round...not at all, especially when I see some other teams that aren't, but hey it is what it is. NCAA tournament team and people on here are upset...really?

Hey can we bring back TL, or does Jon just need to start posting the Highlights of the last 10 years here?
Seriously, quit being a bunch of *******, Iowa is in the tournament that means something, not where I had hoped, but they are there, so stfu.

If a friend and I got into a debate about how good the hawks are, would you call us bi polar for having different opinions? I always thought bi polar was when one person had extreme mood swings but apparently you think its when people have different opinions than other people. I guess democrats and republicans are bi polar.

Bilas was right - we shouldn't be in. And no one left out deserves it either. To me, if the tournament takes a team that played as badly as Iowa down the stretch there are too many teams in the tournament.

Not as offended as I am when the NCAA insults my intelligence by suggesting that going from 4 to 64 teams from one "round" to the next makes sense.

This is no different, in principle, than when a couple baseball teams tie for the last wild card spot. Tell me, were the Padres in the 2007 playoffs, or did they simply lose a play-in game for the right to reach the playoffs? The only difference is what the NCAA chooses to call it, and they want people to watch, so they're going to make it as big of a deal as possible. But it's not a round, IMO, and if Iowa loses, it's really not going to feel like we made the tournament at all.

Big difference between adding 32 teams and having ALL 64 teams play on the first two days, and adding three teams to have two ******* games before they move on to the round with 32 games.

WHY DO EITHER OF YOU CARE SO MUCH ABOUT THIS?!?!?!??!

Well, people taking flak for suggesting that a loss in this game will make it feel as though the Hawks never made the tournament at all probably has something to do with it. And it's got nothing to do with me being ****** that we finished the season poorly. I've held this opinion of the First Four ever since it was introduced and Iowa had no chance of making it.

You might want to do a little background research before you say that it has always been called the first round.

So - people you disagree with are causing this board to be "bi-polar" and those said people should just "stfu". What an interesting (and lonely) world you must live in. Maybe you should start your own forum and give a values test where only those that meet your rigid criteria are allowed entry into your hallowed sanctum.

I'm also gonna take a swag here and suggest that when at a social gathering you are one of those people that others just can't wait to get away from.

Oh the Bilas hate continues. He has us WINNING 2 games and losing to Duke. Stop the hate Bilas. I can't believe he thinks Duke can beat us. Wait. Ummm

Just for point of reference there are 8 teams in the 1st round and 4 games.

I've learned a few things from this thread.
-Jay Bilas hates Iowa
-Jay Bilas likes Iowa
-Iowa is in the NCAA tournament
-Iowa is not in the NCAA tournament
-You are all morons
-This season has really made me grouchy
