Izzo "We are going to win our Championship back"

uh oh..

Wants it most: No. 1 seed Michigan State. Spartans' coach Tom Izzo called Sunday's loss to Ohio State, which gave his team a three-way share of the regular-season title instead of the outright crown, one of the toughest of his career and told fans afterward that this week Michigan State is going to "go win our championship back." The Spartans' NCAA seeding also will be affected by the season-ending ACL tear of freshman starter Branden Dawson if they don't show they're the same team.

I will not underestimate a motivated Izzo coached team. I will take them to win the BTT Championship. I had OSU but i have officially switched.

He made it personal when he started calling Iowa out for the firing of Lick and so now I hope he loses all his games...or gets fired or better yet, BOTH. It would be terrific if we could get to them and beat them by forty points.

Ballsy quote considering the Spartans Big 10 Tourney Results the last 10 years. People are fooling themselves if they think this means anything. MSU was just as motivated the last 10 years when they couldn't get it done and they sure as hell were motivated last Sunday when they threw away the undisputed title by giving the game away to OSU on their home floor. These types of quotes are meaningless and the fact Izzo felt the need to put it out there might say more about his teams lack of motivation than anything.

Izzo and Fran share no love.

Tomorrow should be interesting. Iowa needs to pay them back for Izzo running it up their last meeting.

I realize Izzo has a boatload of Final Fours and conference championships, but I have never loathed a coach as much as I loath Tom Izzo. From his horrible faces after calls go against his team, to his butting-in to our coaching decisions, to the way he coaches his players to maul the other team on defense.....I freaking can't stand that guy! I hated Alford, but Alford owned Izzo for the most part....hope Fran & Co. can steal one tomorrow!

Not even Bo Ryan?

Not even Bo Ryan?

He's a very close second....but there's just something about Izzo that gets to me...even more than Bo! I think it's because Izzo just comes off as this whiny little biatch....whereas Bo just looks like a mean SOB!!

Bo Ryan is the worst. I used to hate Weber but now he kind of sucks. I don't think I've ever hated Izzo.

Talk is cheap. They'll be playing the F*****g Hawks tomorrow. This time Fran is going to skip the chair, and body slam Izzo.

This. I actually like Izzo a lot. It's Ryan that I hate with a burning passion. Whiny ***** vulture if their ever was one.

Let Izzo and the Spartys think about winning it all, while Iowa focuses solely on beating MSU. I'd imagine that the MSU players are thinking to rounds 3 and 4 of the tourney after blowing Iowa out by 34 in East Lansing. Sparty will certainly be getting Iowa's FULL attention tomorrow.

The problem for Sparty is, Iowa always plays terribly in East Lansing. In other words, the game in early January is ZERO indication of what we should expect to see tomorrow (at least from a historical perspective).

In 2002, Iowa lost by 14 in East Lansing and won by 4 at home.

In 2003, Iowa lost by 28 in East Lansing and won by 4 at home.

In 2004, Iowa only played MSU once, losing by 17 in East Lansing.

2005 was a strange year with Iowa losing by 11 at home and winning by 2 on the road.

In 2006, Iowa lost by 30 in East Lansing, only to win by 12 at home AND 5 in the BTT.

In 2007, Iowa lost by 32 in East Lansing and won by 2 at home.

In 2008, Iowa lost by 14 in East Lansing and won by 7 at home.

In 2009, Iowa lost both...by 15 at home and 8 on the road.

In 2010, Iowa lost both...by 18 at home and 7 on the road.

In 2011, Iowa lost by 19 in East Lansing, won by 20 at home, but then lost by 5 in the BTT.

As I mentioned above, losing in East Lansing, even by 34 as Iowa did in early January, is ZERO indication of what will happen tomorrow (at least from a historical perspective).

So, hopefully, MSU players overlook Iowa, thinking about winning it all, and Iowa takes care of business, making this weekend a whole lot more interesting from an Iowa fan perspective.
