It would be a great time to retire......

I was worried a few years ago when Davis was here. I had little faith of Greg being able to connect with the younger generation where I think Brian can relate with the younger guys and speak to his experience as a Hawkeye player, the NFL and working under Belicheck and now with a few years experience at Iowa.

Granted, I think this years team is better than our record and some of the blame for that can go to the coaching staff.

But I’m not concerned about the future of the program. We continue to put guys in the NFL and compete consistently.

We’ll miss the TEs next year but hopefully Smith and Marsette both a year older will be ready to step up more as well as our run game.

Kirk's terms are as follows
  • Son Brian takes over as HC
  • Son James becomes OC
  • Playing surface at Kinnick renamed "Kirk Ferentz Field"
  • His profile replaces the tiger hawk as official team logo
  • The phrase "That's Football" replaces the tiger hawk on the water tower.
  • Nile Kinnick's statue replaced with one of a short side stretch run into a nine man box
  • Stead Children's Hospital converted into the Wrigley Building
LOL to all this!:p:D
LOL about all but the first two, and you forget He has another son. Think Kirk is just waiting for the AD position to come open. Does the Iowa Ferenzhawks have a ring to it. This will be looked back by historians as the "Kirk Dynasty".

Lol go root for ISU already ya fugging clown

Bill Snyder & Son, Part II.......coming to a theater near you soon.

Kirk is 16 years younger. If Kirk is coaching in another 5, I might start to worry but 16 years is a big difference.

Also, Brian’s resume is much stronger with OC experience and working under the best coach in the NFL.

If Hayden Fry is there....inducted in 03-04...its a certainty KF will be....certainty

Hayden Fry took over a dumpster fire of a program that had been a joke for decades (18 consecutive years without a winning season) and turned it into one that was consistently competitive and respected. Kirk took over an established program coming off a down year.

I've said it many times before; Kirk is a good football coach, runs a solid program. He isn't a great coach. A great coach wouldn't go 14 years without a conference title. Overall he's probably a good fit for Iowa. I don't think Iowa fans would tolerate a cheater like Urban Meyer, Bobby Bowden etc. Kirk appears to play it straight and the guys that play for him seem to have tremendous respect for him.

Ya, I like him enough that I don't want to see him retire with the program in the dump though. He's gotta be smart about that.

I wouldn't mind seeing him clock an official. Say, like a bad call a al 2006 Outback Bowl, KF just goes onto the field and clotheslines the official. Does a Woody Hayes-style retirement, but with a lot more balls than the way Hayes left.

Simply designed as a continuation movie of two coaches trying to pave the way for their sons and will hang on for an uncertain period of time trying to do so. This movie, I'm told, does not compare ages, resumes, or outcomes of the two.........most audience attendees will already know the elements you cite.

I think you are one year early. With all the starters we have coming back in 2019 why leave now when you don't have to? I could potentially see him retiring in 1-3 years though. A head coaching position in college football is a meat grinder.

If he does retire this year how certain is everyone that Brian would be HC? As much as we gripe on KF for hiring Brian it is all speculation that part of the deal is that Brian is the HC in waiting. There is a big difference going from OC to Head Coach at a major university. Does Brian even want to follow is dad? Does he want the pressure? I think he would be better off coaching at a smaller school and getting that experience under his belt. Kirk coached at a lot of places before he was head coach and I am confident that he would tell you that it benefited him. The big question is if it isn't Brian who would it be then?

I do not think Kirk is one that will coach until he is 70 years old. One of his best friends (Stoops) is done maybe he will want to enjoy his retirement by doing things with his friends while he can. Everything is all speculation and I have a feeling that whatever we think is going to happen will not in the end
