It is time Coach Ferentz

Yeah, but at least Stoops wanted the job and the sheer ineptitude of the administration left us with Kirk. I don't know who will want us if we tank again at the end of Kirk's tenure.
Once they see the characters that lurk on this board, no sane coach in their right mind would want this job.

The guy is barking at 100 wins in the Big Ten at a second tier program. That is legendary. If you stay somewhere 20-ish years, that's legend status. Is he a God tier legend, like Nick? No. But the guy can coach. Hayden was a legend, so is Kirk.
I think Iowa fans see him as legendary, but my point is fans at like Alabama, USC, Florida, Clemson ect... most likely see Kirk as just a good coach. If you as an Iowa fan try to point this out to these other fan bases that Kirk is legendary, their response will be something like..."He has never won a national title, only has won two Big 10 titles, never won the BIG outright, only has won one BCS bowl game and averages 7-8 wins a year." That's exactly what fans outside Iowa will say. Heck, I've have Big 10 fans saying this to me personally, especially OSU fans. It's also a power trip for them and a way to stick their noses up at Iowa as well.

Too bad you can't read. KF did lose at Maine. HF had a great last couple of classes. You should rise above stupidity.

You can't divide by zero, sport. Look at Main'es history, for one. For two, WHAT "great last couple of classes" are you talking about?!

Look it up uourself

.

Hey sport. Maine was better before and after. We discussed recruiting.

The 1998 class had a solid nucleus of about 4 guys that did much. And the argument would be well-served that KF developed those guys.

JFC, HAYDEN FRY HIMSELF SAID HE DID NOT RECRUIT WELL HIS LAST TWO YEARS!

Source? Facts? Good night...

Try reading any issue of Voice of the Hawkeyes for his last season and the season after. Listen to old interviews with Zabel. Other than that, not sure what to tell you.

Good God, you are dense and close-minded. And obviously not connected to Iowa-related media or program in any way. It was out there for all to see/hear for a solid year. He flat-out said, after KFs first season, that KF "got no breaks coming in", among other things.

I really should have known you were "sketchy" when you said you "knew" we would beat OSU and that Iowa had more team speed. That was the laugh of the fucking millennium. You just didn't know it.

I said good night Dean.

We’ve had two coaches over the last 40 years

that’s not normal.

A lot of people worry about the next coach being crap, or being so good they leave after a few seasons....well that’s literally 99% of college football teams

It’s so improbable for Iowa to become a Rutgers or Maryland due to our OOC schedule and the fact that we play Rutgers/Maryland

so more than likely if we get a crappy coach, we go 6-8 wins a year

if we get someone who lights the world on fire how much fun would that be!!?!?

It’s like people expect a coach to stick around for 20 years for the program to be in good standing

Apparently you don't remember the teams before Hayden came to Iowa. We WERE the "Rutgers or Maryland" of the Big 10 and OOC teams wanted to schedule us because of that fact.

Kirk isn't going to retire until he gets Brian in as head coach. No matter how bad we are, or how bad Brian is. He will be the next HC.

How bout, no. He doesn't need to go. Probably going to meet my expectations of 9 - 3 this year before the bowl game, and end the year ranked in the top 25. Which is my measuring line.

He has had a great run at Iowa. Turned the program around after Hayden stayed too long. Won a lot of games, won championships. the last few years still winning but not with much excitement and certainly much offense. Bring in Brian to put a breath of fresh air into the offense and it just hasn't happened.
Kirk is going to be 65 and has a chance if we can beat Nebraska (tossup) to go out 9-3 with a good bowl game. Great time to go.
Next year could be tough. Cupboard isn't bare as we have some good young talent but in modern day football QB really is the key. Stanley was not a difference maker, but was more than adequate. Next year???? On top of that the schedule will be a challenge. Purdue Illinois Nebraska and Minnesota are no longer "probable" wins. Add in which looks to be the best Iowa State team in a long time Ohio State, Penn State and Wisconsin and I could see us slip to 6-6 or worse.

Fry stayed too long. This is a great chance for Ferentz to get out on top.

PS If it happens and I doubt it will NO WAY does young Ferentz take over

Are you for real or a clown Husker troll?

I doubt many fans outside of Iowa would consider Kirk to be a legendary football coach.

So true.

After this season it will be 15 years without a conference title. Hardly legendary. We struggled every season to beat out Wisconsin. A team that Hayden beat like a drum.

If some of you think finishing second, third, or fourth in the West division is good enough then I have a serious question for you. Are you gay or have you been spending too much time in Ames drinking out of the toilets there???

First it was excuses of why little ole Iowa can never compete for a National Title. Then it was why little ole Iowa wasn’t good enough to ever win a conference title (going on 15 years now). Now a lot of folks are accepting not even winning the West division but once every five or six years.

Oh woes us if we go from our glorious eight wins a year to only six. Seriously??? No one gives a damn about a eight win team average over a six win team average because in the grand scheme of divisional, Conference, or National titles Iowa is inconsequential or irrelevant.

Joy to the world that must be what you all want. How’s that toilet water in Ames taste?
