Is Wisconsin Big Brother?

The Wisconsin offensive coaching staff is far superior to our offensive coaching staff. Their D is marginally better than ours.
 
I don't think there is any question that Wisconsin has surpassed us in football and basketball, the season records and head -to-head speak for themselves. The big question is, do we have the talent, the ability, and the passion to change that scenario? Based on what we saw against the Badgers in football last season , and what we have seen this season in basketball overall, the popular opinion would be.....NO FREAKING WAY!! However, I don't think that the talent gap is as vast as others think, and that, especially in football, the biggest hurdle we need to overcome is our predictability in play calling, which has been discussed ad nauseam on this forum. This upcoming season is going to serve as a catalyst for years to come, do we adjust our play calling and play to our strengths ( Ohio State, Nebraska), our do we bang our heads against the brick wall over and over again ( Michigan St., Northwestern,...etc...) ??

What concerns me the most is that final lingering doubt concerning the Badgers may have been answered in their bowl game. Unable to play downhill with their power running game they had to turn to Hornibrook and young receivers not named Peavy, Cephus and Fumigali to make plays and they did just that. They are darn near a complete team if Hornibrook steps up.

I have lived in Wisconsin for seventeen years and am surrounded by an entire generation that doesn't remember Wisconsin pre-Barry (or pre Bo for that matter). I pray for the day when the pendulum swings and it's like the eighties or nineties once again. Starting the cinferecon season with them at Kinnick in September is going to speak volumes about the the state of both programs.

I was referring to players who went to ISU rather than Iowa.

One of BTR's premises is Iowa has 'competition' from within its own borders for talent (ISU) while Wisconsin does not, thus hurting Iowa as far as a program goes as compared to Wisconsin. It's my contention this isn't true. Iowa gets 99% of the studs who stay in state.

We used to be what Wisconsin is now. We were the bullies of the big ten and yes they modeled their program after us. They are more "Iowa" than we are. We are failing at our own traditions... our own history and our own style of play.
 
Wisconsin has appeared in the most conference championship games since 2011 and is in a three way tie for the most wins.

I would say Wisconsin has an even more commanding lead of the West than Ohio State over the East. Granted there is a lot more competition at the top of the Eastern division.

Wisconsin is big brother to the entire Western Division, not just Iowa.

My opinion ONLY! Our big boss has different priority.
 
Mark my words, KF and company will play their best game against Wisconsin, this coming season. That will be our most complete game of the season. Whether or not it will be enough to get the win is another thing entirely. Then we'll turn around and lose 2 of the next 4 games.
 
The "Big Brother, Little Brother" term is used when there are more than one power 5 in the state. Examples would be Iowa-Iowa State, Michigan-Michigan State, Oregon-Oregon State, and so on. The best way to arrive to the appropriate answer to this question would be to ask one's self "Are the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin in the same state?" I don't want to give it away, but the answer is fairly obvious.

There is a decent chance of it. Away at Penn State is a tough game. I would favor Iowa in the other three but at lest one loss is more probable than three wins.

If Iowa finishes 3-1 they likely end up at 7-5 or 8-4 on the regular season.

7 wins is good enough for KF and Gutless Gary. It wouldn't be a bench mark in the contract if it wasn't.
