Is the Iowa vax rate off limits or something?

I agree with basically everything you're saying here. If people don't want to get vaxxed I strongly disagree with them but I don't think there should be a mandate or anything like that.

What I do think is that insurance companies shouldn't have to cover anybody for costs associated with people who get really sick and aren't vaccinated. Don't want to get vaccinated, that's fine, but if you get hospitalized or anything you pay the full bill. I think personal responsibility should extend to people's pocketbooks as well if that's the choice they want to make.
What's funny is by and large it's unhealthy individuals that get hospitalized from covid and it's also unhealthy individuals that drive up the cost of my health care premiums. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Your premise is not correct
Really? Eight NCST players tested positive for Covid during the world series, some of which were fully vaccinated. So please provide the data stating if it was the vaccinated or unvaccinated players who first contracted the virus and spread it amongst the other 7 players?

Iowa is pretty red now to be honest. Trump crushed here the last few times and many newish congress members got swept out both at the state and national level. It's not Utah but it's not Minnesota either.

The difference isn't exaggerated. Republicans are roughly six times more likely than Democrats to say they have no interest in being vaccinated, according to recent polls.

It seems these days that polls are designed to tell you the story they want to tell. I don't know a single person in my life that hasn't gotten the vaccine for political reasons.

When you factor in how contagious the virus is, how many breakthrough cases there are, how many players are on a football team, and how long the season is, there would be plenty of teams having troubles if they tested the vaccinated players. The odds are better for them, but there is just too much to overcome to avoid all trouble completely.

But... they aren't testing them. That's the whole point.

It's not that people aren't getting them for political reasons, it's that their political leanings tie in to a larger group of factors leading to them being vaccine skeptics.

Let's not kid ourselves here. People have been politically polarized since the beginning of this country.

None of this current plague of argument between the two factions would be a factor without the Facebook and Twitter mob mentality, which is driven by news media.

I'm pretty sure someone said that if they were testing the vaccinated that they would have problems too. Someone disagreed with that premise. That's why I posted what I did.

My guess is that most of the Republicans that arent getting it isn't because they are vaccine skeptical. A lot of them are virus skeptical.

The whole point of my original post was focusing on the competitive disadvantage Iowa may face given the rules in place and Iowa's comparatively low vax rate (at least from what we know). Do we have any update on whether there has been any improvement in this area?

chicken pox
None of the diseases you listed are even remotely close to a SARS virus. The ones you mentioned are human-borne and can be eradicated. This mutates like any flu virus and gets transported by animals. It's never going away.

Not to mention the covid vaccine does not eliminate infection or transmission.
