I'm pretty sure that's not gonna happen again with that weak-ass schedule of theirs this year. I think they've finally got a good strength coach now too, so I don't think they will be as soft as they have been.

That win streak was incredible I need to go back and look at the exact numbers, but who cares if it was D-3 football. What Bob Reade did at the time was unprecedented.

I couldn't remember who coached them but I knew they had an amazing run. UW Whitewater, where my daughter now attends college, is a legit D-3 power. But even they are no Augustana from the eighties and nineties.

Bob Reade record at Augustana was 146-23-1. Prior to that he coached at Geneseo High School in Illinois. His record there was 146-21-4.
Yes, he was a very good coach.

That doesn't take into account schedule.
But if all those played the same schedule, I think it would shake out about like this.

The top 6 are almost interchangeable. Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin have to be considered as prime contenders also.

it looks like they won 37 in a row. they tied elmhurst 0-0 on 9/13/82, then finished regular season 8-0-1. so, i'd imagine they could have won over 40 straight if they hadn't tied elmhurst.

But they are optimistic after scoring a few on Wisconsin. Never mind Wisconsin was coming off playing Iowa and looked like they were playing flag football. Never mind they had two weeks to figure out how to score a little.
