Is Indiana better than Minnesota?

I have not watched IU this year, so don't know much about them, except that they like to pass. After watching the Gophs have air success against us, I am a bit worried. Hope #33 is feeling confident at CB.

The Hoosiers are starting to gain some ground in the recruiting area. After the OSU game last week a 4* running back flipped from OSU to Indiana. He is from Indiana but I found that kind of an embarrassment to OSU. After all OSU had him there on an official visit for that game. I'm thinking this is going to be a close game. We have some linebacker problems at the moment with injuries and some DB injuries. Hopefully Moss and Brents step up like they did against the goofers because the hoooosiers will be airing it out.

they're a worse matchup for Iowa

And they have been for years. I am always concerned when we play fast paced, passing offenses, especially when they have a mobile qb that can throw.

Need to have a clean game, win turnover battle, and not give up big plays.

I know we want to continue to improve on the passing game, but I also would like to see us be able to control the pace with a solid running game, which I dont know that we've done yet.

Minnesota only completed 50% of their passes and threw 4 picks. They didn’t have that much success. Sure they threw 3 TD’s but 2 were thanks to our offense.

Looking at this year's data.

Team Stats

i

Points Per Game. 29.8. 27.8
Points Allowed Per Game. 16.6. 25.8
Total Yards. 398.4. 411.2
Yards Passing. 243.4. 247.7
Yards Rushing 155.0. 163.5
Yards Allowed. 272.4. 369.7
Pass Yards Allowed. 188.0 212.2
Rush Yards Allowed. 84.4. 157.5

Indiana is currently ranked 56th in passing yards, Iowa is ranked 61st. Minnesota is 99th.

Could be a game where Stanley and the offense need to rescue our young and short-handed defense for a victory. Lose this game and much goes down the drain. No excuse for not being up and ready for this one.

Yes...Indiana is probably better. How much better remains to be seen. We are technically giving up 29.5 per game in B10 play. Now, you may be able to counter that with the 3 turnovers inside our 10 yard line have influenced that number. I'd say Indiana is better because of Ramsey...he's light years better than Annexstad...and he's battle tested. If you let him sit back there...he will pick you apart...if you aren't disciplined he will move the chains with his legs. Much, much different scenario than Minnesota.

That just goes to show how much our offense has to take care of business. They can't turn the ball over in our own end against any of our remaining opponents...especially on the road. I've been saying, youth and injuries eventually show up somewhere in a big way. I'm hoping it's not this week.

The thing in our favor this year is that a pass rush tends to disguise issues in the LB corp and the secondary. As long as you can force the QB to throw sooner than he wants or create negative plays...it takes pressure off. Our DL is huge in a game like this...huge. Hornibrook had way too much time to throw in the second half. If that happens again...we are in trouble.

I think the hawks have the better defense even maybe with some injuries. A real good day by the DLine will be huge. IU defense giving up bigger yards against the run so .....I think the offenses are about the same but the hawks may be able to run the ball better which making us more balanced and better at play action.

If IU is weak at safety I hope we try at least 3-4 deep balls also.

Much much better than minny. Even though I am hoping for a win tomorrow it would not shock me if we lose by more than two touch downs tomorrow. The defense better be up for this game.
