Is Indiana better than Minnesota?

High scoring close game. I think we force them to punt 3 times and force 2 turnovers while we only punt 3 times and have zero turnovers. We win by a TD.

Offensively, I would say yes. Defensively, I would say they are about even.
For Iowa to win this game, they need to play clean football in all three phases of the game. Win TOP and field position. Defense needs to play contain, not give up big plays, and force some turnovers, put pressure on the qb, and force Indiana into a bunch of 3 and outs.

Not the "steel curtain" but an improving D for Indiana. Iowa probable gives up some points with their linebacker secondary injuries. Indiana will go all in on this game, if Iowa has more unforced turnovers they will certainly lose.

No question about it, they are better. We will be hard pressed to win and with injured corner backs I would take the points.

Indiana is better than Minnesota in football. Minnesota is better than Indiana as a state.

I didnt mind my stay in Indianapolis but i get the feeling you have more experiences to draw off.

Historical though - Minnesota has been better at football than indiana, no? Just seems like loosing to hoosiers football stings more.

I think this will be a game won or lost by the coaches.

I was impressed with Indianapolis when I was there a few years ago. Plus, Steve Alford has a hotel in Indiana.

Indiana's short passing offense is far more efficient. It does tend to be more horizontal than Minnesota, with far more passes at or behind the line of scrimmage. Indiana has a decent runningback and the quarterback has been a big factor in the running game. Minnesota tried to go deep fairly often and didn't have much luck at it. Note that Indiana's quarterback had an ankle injury late in the Ohio State game that may be a factor. Also, left tackle Cory Cronk was injured in the Ohio State game.

I don't know if Indiana's defensive front will get as much penetration against the run as Minnesota. Indiana's secondary may be better than Minnesota's.

For the Big ten tournament, within walking distance of the stadium were bars that each picked a big ten team to represent. The city is pretty easy to navigate around too.

You were correct about the first sentence.

Allen set the tone early by acting like a petulant brat every time a call didn't go his way.

We helped them by not jumping a fumble on the first possession of the game, then Stanley's pick at 14-3.

If they make a defensive stand right after scoring the TD it may have been a somewhat different game, not a blowout.

Going up 28-10 early in the third took much of the wind that was still left their sails.

And the answer is?
I think a better question is "Is Iowa better than Ohio State?"

Think about it. We beat Minnesota 48-31 and Indiana 42-16, both on the road.

tOSU plays the same two teams in the shoe and wins 49-24 against Indiana and 30-16 against the goofs.

tOSU has the Urb, four and five star recruits, national championship aspirations, etc.

We may get curb stomped in Happy Valley and Northwestern and Purdue will not be pushovers. I feel good about the progress we're making. But no one can say we did it against the little sisters of the poor when it compared favorably to how tOSU fared againt the same teams.

Yes we are, and no one can prove me wrong...

...unless we get to the BTC Game. Hope we get the chance!
