Is Fridays game with ISU the biggest in Frans tenure at Iowa

I have to disagree with you a little here. ISU has been gaining quite a bit of national recognition over the last 3 years or so. The win at NC will hold more weight nationally if the Hawks can defend their home court and beat another top 15 team.

At this point right now ISU is more respected nationally then NC is, because the Hawks beat them at home. If ISU wins on Friday it just shows the experts “yeah we were right how do you let the Hawks beat you in your house? Iowa is still not a solid threat and loss at home to ISU.â€￾

LOL No.

Iowa State is not a deep team at all. They go 8 guys deep and that's it. They are also very small. Niang is 6'8", Edozie logs about 8 minutes a game and is also 6'8"...the rest of their team is 6'6" or shorter. Iowa has 5 guys who log minutes who are 6'8" or taller. You would think the obvious answer for Iowa would be to pound the ball inside and try to get them into foul trouble. Iowa should also dominate the boards.

The problem for Iowa is I'm not sure they have a guy who can really guard Niang effectively. I'm not even sure who they'll put on him to start the game...White? Uthoff? The UNLV kid is good too but he's no Marcus Paige. Clemmons will have his hands full again

I don't think this is the biggest game for Fran. I think its his biggest game so far this season, but that's about it. I think the spread will be very close, maybe even a pickem. Before the season started I picked Iowa to beat ISU and then lose to UNI so I guess I have to stick with that.

I think both White and Utoff can gaurd Niang. The problem is he plays the 5 though.

Will be interesting to see how it goes. I'd start right off the bat attacking him on the block with Woodbury and dare him to shoot 3s on the other side.

Gabe can guard him for stretches too but I'm afraid GN will get him off his feet to easily with shot fakes.

Let's not forget, we beat them two years ago and should have won comfortably last year. Imaginary fouls and poor free throw shooting were the only thing that kept that one with in reach.

Not being able to finish is what keep them from winning. Bad calls good calls they were even in that game if memory serves me correctly.

It is a huge game because we have 2 more chances to get quality wins in the non-con; ISU & UNI. Need a split at worst.

ISU has superior players, athletes and shooters so this is going to be a real challenge.

It is fun to read through the Good Calls vs Bad Calls leading up to this game.... Some had it nailed while others were way off

It did turn out to be a huge game, but in a whole different light. It exposed a whole lot of issues with Fran's coaching.
