Is enthusiasm for Iowa Football low on this board?

Is it just me? It seems like there should be more anticipation for the upcoming season by posters on this board? I am fairly excited and I know others who are as well. But there really doesn't seem to be much in the terms new posts on this board talking about the upcoming season.

Thoughts? Am I imagining things?

I'm still on vacation so yes, low traffic by posters, and its only July. A 6-6 season will produce a lot of, "Yep, I called it", instead of a season of, "wow, 8-4? I would be never seen that coming" Go Hawks....give it until August then ask the same question. I'm still trying to figure out why I can't get grass to grow in shady areas. Damn....

Being that it's July and hot and humid as can be, I just can't get into the football spirit right now. I'm sure that will all change in about 3 weeks. Plus, last year was such a let down, so I guess my expectations are low right now. I'm not sure if I feel confident that we beat Wyoming in week 1. I have visions of N. Dakota St.

I think there is enthusiasm for the season, but I think there is a little bit of "wait fatigue." The excitement will pick up in August.

I am actually excited. I could start a bunch of threads that I don't believe just to get people worked up. You know, since we don't have anyone who does that here.

Opinion here is that it's been a hot summer and being only July...not returning a top 25 caliber (for the moment) ballclub...its fair to say it's a week to 10 days early for the normal excitement to kick in.

Return a qb and deep receiving group and excitement may have begun as early as last week. Maybe.

Nothing to see here...just the dead season.

Cautiously optimistic. The Hawks have let me down many times. So I try to keep my enthusiasm under control.

I sure hope that last year's early defensive alignment problems which resulted with for run defense is taken care of at the start of this season. Wyoming has that good QB coming back so need to get a pass rush established by end of August. If hawks do those things on defense and get the passing game even to average they should win the first 3 games.

That Wyoming game makes me VERY nervous. If it doesn't make you nervous, you haven't been paying attention.

Most fans are excited but there are so many unknowns what can they post about? I think it will be good to see the development of this team and I hope Brian F and KOK can get the offense in gear.

Most Hawk fans here take a kind of wait and see approach to the season especially with all the unknowns. We don't fall for all the crap like they do at cyfan, we prefer reality. Once the season is near there will be a lot of enthusiasm.

It's Summer time. Vacation, chill time, outdoor recreation etc is front and center. Once mid-August gets here football comes into primary view.

I'm extremely excited. But I'm also cautiously optimistic. I think mainly because of all the unknowns. What will offensive scheme look like? Who will be QB and will they perform? Can DL hold up? Yes, there are concerns with skill position depth on the outside, but I'm hopeful, added use of highly capable TE's, will remove some of that pressure.

Iowa will go 12-0 this year.

Strangely, I think I'm more excited this year than last year, and that team of course came off the historic 12-0 regular season. Maybe I knew there would be a letdown because expectations were so high as compared to 6-6 expectations this year and the unknowns that await. Maybe it's how the human brain is inclined to view things like that, I don't know.

Well, summertime is always a little slow out here from what I've seen. But couple that with last year being somewhat of a disappointment, the season ending with yet another bowl game blowout loss, and maybe expectations not being especially high this season with a first year QB, etc. then I think that probably is basically where there isn't a ton of hype for the 2017 season. Personally, I'm expecting a 7-5 type of season.

I think we're all looking forward to the start of football season, though - it's a great time of year.

Message boards are dying.
The poll a while back indicated that about 1/2 are concerned about concussions and that does temper enthusiasm.
The last bowl game was ugly.

I'm expecting a season that can't be predicted.

Last bowl game? how about the last 5 bowl games. Especially the Rose and Tax Slayer bowls.

I'd take a lack of enthusiasm or a "wait and see" attitude from the board over what we had after the 2014 season leading up to 2015....it was practically impossible to come here during the summer with all the bitching and moaning and every other thread calling for KF to be fired, etc.

The problem is that Iowa Football is like a hot chick. The anticipation is amazing, but the result is, well, you know.
