Iowa worst team in Big Ten?

I'm responding to another poster saying a blanket statement that this is a top half in the conference talented team and if that is the case we wouldn't be an NIT team. Young, talented teams make the tournament all the time. I think it's pretty obvious to look at this team and realize it's not an overly talented roster, especially if you look at recent recruiting rankings and whatnot

He says right about that post "I think" though. Your post sticks out because this is what you do. You make blanket statements all the time like your opinion is fact. That's what rubs so many people the wrong way. You aren't the end all be all of sports knowledge. Stop acting like you are. Just because you say something doesn't mean it is true.

You have an opinion. Just like the rest of us. Which you are entitled to share. That's what these boards are for. You're encouraged to share your opinion. There's no reason to be an ass about it by constantly acting like your opinion is fact.

Sorry, I will work on that. I'm actually surprised people think we're more talented than teams like Michigan State, Maryland, etc. so that is why I said it as a fact and not an opinion.

UW, Purdue, MSU, TOSU, MD and Indiana - I could make an argument that all of these schools probably have more "talented" rosters in regards to just straight up recruiting rankings and being better basketball teams - BUT, that still puts Iowa in the top half and with EVERY one of those sans Michigan State maybe... having more seasoned and experienced rosters.

Agreed. OSU, Maryland, and MSU would be the next three for me.

I don't think that - I think we have top half talent - that's inexperienced. Iowa has one of the least experienced and youngest teams in all of D1 basketball.

You're forgetting Michigan too

OK rank the teams in the Big Ten according to talent and I'd like to see where you have us at

ok, maybe? I mean, I can get with you on that, but it's not definitive and their talent is more developed. They also lost the Virginia Tech and South Carolina - let's let em play this week and then decide.

They'll make the tournament. Their PG we wanted over Bohannon hardly even plays. They have a lot of talent

You don't think Michigan State has more talent than us? That can't be serious

They started Matt McQuaid and Van Dyk last night. Heck, Kreiner probably would have played at least 25 minutes for them last night and he's arguably our 6th forward.

I do think MSU has more talent than us, especially when they get Bridges back. I don't think their talent level is head & shoulders above ours. Which is what I stated in my post.

Ohh, and throw recruiting rankings out. I don't give a rip. I'm sure McQuaid was a 4 star the second he signed with MSU. He's garbage.

Iowa has the # 2 scoring offense in the B1G, a player of the year candidate who will likely lead the conference in scoring, a frosh who's in the top 5 for assists, a frosh that leads the conference in shooting percentage and a frosh who is likely the 2nd best player on the team that's been hurt. Iowa is plenty talented.

Then why we going to be an NIT team with losses to Omaha and Memphis?

McQuaid was a big recruit

you don't have to look too far for an example of what I mean. Iowa has finished top 5 of the B1G the last 3 seasons - have they been the most talented ?

Saying talent is kinda pointless. OSU is one of the most talented teams in the conference every year and it doesn't do them much good. We have Jok, Cook, and Pemsl. Those 3 are probably in the top 5 when comparing to other top 3s. Baer hurts us when comparing talent, but he is probably a top 5 6th man in the conference.
