Iowa vs. UI game thread

Our guards are getting blown by, and then no one steps up to help on D. Woodbury couldn't throw it in the ocean from a foot away. White needs to go up strong instead of taking those acrobatic reverse layups. We are lucky to not be down 20.

IU is lucky Iowa is not up by 8. Iowa played horrible!

This is going to be a long Big Ten season unless someone on the team learns how to shoot. The other teams are so big and athletic(Minny vs MSU was pretty much one team of athletic trees against another) Iowa is going to struggle to get good shots inside the 3-pt line.

Also, getting beat of the dribble breaks down any defense. They either have layups or easy dumpoffs for buckets. That is the main thing that needs to happen to play good defense - stop the ball. At the perimeter, they aren't doing that at all and it is killing us. No, Woody isn't stepping up like he should, but it's the first part of it that is not allowing us to stay in this game.

Iowa is shooting the ball horrible and only down 8. Hopefully they knock down some shots and stop the ball on D.

Iowa is having trouble getting good movement when IU is playing man to man, which is what they were in most of the half. When they went zone, the Hawks were able to get it into the middle of the zone. IU plays tough man to man, Fran needs to make adjustments. Need better screens and back cuts. Iowa played so bad, to only be down 8 is pretty good. Will need a very solid second half.

You singled out Woody. You didn't say anything about the rest of that the first time. Don't tell me to watch the whole play when you single out one person, and that one person is not making us look worse than Indiana. That would be a team effort doing that.

Woody 2 points 5 rebounds
Zeller 4 points 5 rebounds.

Good job by woody if you ask me.

Woody is the slowest on the court. Not hard to see. Sorry about truth. he's learning to play within himself which is good, but it is a matchup problem. On a zone or 1x1, you can't just guard your guy. You have to move.

Yeah, and in 1on1 you have to guard your man. Our guards aren't doing that. You blame Woody, and it's not hard to see he isn't the one to blame.
