Iowa vs Minnesota

Pin how can u say Nelson isn't very good? As much as I hate Minny, this guy is a beast. He's a Hwt who will take u down and ride. A 4-1 match is a beating with that guy.

I personally don't think he is as good as ppl think he is yes he is a beast but leaves lots of opportunities to be beat

did i say it was a BIG problem?? i said he just doesn't wrestle the same on the road and its the difference maker just my opinion. Have you watched his duals at home compared to the ones on the road or are you simply just looking at results

No you didn't say it was a BIG problem, but you weren't the only person to bring it up either. Yes, i've watched the duals. in my opinion he does just as well on the road. He just majored the 11th ranked guy on the road. didn't have any issues there. Even in the Heflin match which most people would point to as his best home match he didn't score an offensive point until overtime (3 escapes and 1 stall). I just don't notice any difference. anyways, just what i think.

He'll take you down only if you make a mistake. Yes, he can ride.

yep no problem just wrong opinion which is a great one everyone sees something different in a wrestler you just seemed almost offended and i am just merely pointing out my thoughts

When I'm sitting in Carver watching the Hawks all I'm thinking about is "WIN"". I'm not giving style points or reviews for a newspaper. If McDonough wins 10-4 i'm not going to sit there and say, "Wow, Must be something wrong with Matt". No major, tech, or fall. What is wrong with Matt? Obviously winning isn't good enough to lots of posters.

castille ppl just expect to get bonus points out of him EVERY time so for some reason when he doesn't ppl get worried

If you compare McD's past results to this year you will see there is a notable drop off in bonus point victories. Also, it is obvious that he's having a much more difficult time finishing shots. It is taking him longer to finish and many shots end up in stalemates. He's also having a more difficult time getting off bottom. In his last match he chose neutral rather than take the chance of getting ridden hard. These are all facts, not just my opinion. I still think he finishes on the top of the podium, but he is obviously struggling with something this season.

He's obviously good [for a heavyweight]. What is frustrating for me is that the refs allow him to ride for the sake of riding. He gets away with successfully holding down his opponents without the expectation of trying to turn them. And rarely does he get called for a stalemate in the top position, much less stalling. I've seen Iowa wrestlers called for stalling or a stalemate in the top position even when cranking on their opponent. For some reason Nelson gets a free pass most of the time. Maybe it's just a heavyweight bias, but it's aggravating.

I think it might be the fact that he's another year older and still cutting down to 125 AND he was sick earlier in the year. I don't think there's anything to worry about, like you said I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be at the top of the podium in March. He's going to have a couple chances to wrestle Megaludis which will definitely get him pumped up.

i know he had a shoulder that was really, really bothering him at the beginning of the year. and obviously hasn't taken much time off the mat. would probably explain why he hasnt' finished shots as well. he's always gotten in that real extended position but made up for it w/ length and toughness. I'm sure that injury just makes it that much harder.
i don't think people have a problem with how he's wrestling, but it's pretty obvious he isn't dominating the way he has in the past. but if he ends up on top of the podium, no one will really care.

That was the past. I can see a difference this year in the way he wrestles. Come on though, is this what Matt said to you? Maybe he figured he could score a major by taking his opponent down and letting him up and taking him down again.

I don't fault McD for choosing neutral. I think it's a smart decision often times, especially when controlling the match. It makes more sense to choose down in a close match that might be decided by a single point.

And "No," I didn't speak to him personally. It's still a fact that he chose neutral.

174#Storley major?

i think your predicts are ok - but i doubt storley is that dominating - and i think mcd does not win by major. but i think the entire lineup (sans the dsj match) is a close match, and one mistake could cost any one of those matches. This will be a seat rocker for me.

I'll agree with, "one mistake". If I was to change any of my picks it would be Dardanes beating Ballweg. "GO HAWKS".

Here are my predictions. "Section 136".....hope you have a great time attending today's meet!

125: McD: Dec (IA 3 MN 0)

133: Ramos: Dec (IA 6 MN 0)

141: Ballweg: Dec (IA 9 MN 0) This match will go a long way in determining who wins the meet. Could easily see Dadanes pulling out the victory.

149: Ness: Dec (IA 9 MN 3) Ness has been battling injuries all season and has not looked good recently.

157: DSJ:Dec ((IA 12 MN 3)

165: Yohn: Dec (IA 12 MN 6) Think Moore can keep this close.

174: Storely: Dec (IA 12 MN 9) Another huge swing match.........Evans can win this if he doesn't get to reckless in the top position.

184: Steinhaus: Dec (IA 12 MN 12)

197: Schiller: Dec (IA 12 MN 15) This match could determine the winner of the meet. Burak has been wrestling much better recently but I still have to give a slight edge to Schiller.

HWT: Nelson: Dec ((IA 12 MN 18) Hopefully Telford is over his illness. If he gets the first TD he has a chance of pulling the upset.

Minnesota: 18 Iowa: 12
