Good win but

did I hear the announcers correctly that Iowa in its last sixteen games is 1-15 against top twenty teams counting this win today. That can’t be correct. Is it?

The irony is if Michigan ends up losing to Texas they end up with the same record as Iowa at 9-4.

Of course Michigan had Moore distractions this year (tongue in cheek).

I think their exact words were, "Iowa has, Pavia is a god, lost to 15, Pavia is going to kill Iowa, consecutive games to, Pavia is the greatest player in the history of the world, ranked teams. That streak will extend to 16 games because Vanderbilt has Pavia and Iowa's defensive coordinator will have no answer for the GOAT.

If someone gave you $999,999 you would come on here and bitch that it wasn’t a million. It must be miserable as hell being you.

1. Douchie thread
2 Why is that "ironic"?

The drought versus ranked opponents has been discussed in numerous threads on here. It’s only brought up during every game by commentators. Must not have tuned in to many Iowa games.

Reminds me of the 1980 men's basketball regional final vs Georgetown when Packer and McGuire were fawning all over Georgetown and John Thompson proclaiming him as the next big thing in the coaching ranks. Billy and Al might as well worked for the Georgetown SID staff with all the cheerleading. Finally with the game going towards crunch time and the Hawkeyes playing the half of their lives McGuire, in the tone of a party pooper, sheepishly brought the conversation to a halt with his "Hey, Iowa can win this" line.

Their prediction of Thompson as the next basketball messiah would soon come true when Patrick Ewing arrived on campus and regular final four appearances would follow. But it got a little obnoxious, and premature, that day.

When the basketball team made their legendary return to Iowa City and a packed Field House, fans were ready with signs like "The Hawkeyes are on fire, will someone please tell McGuire!" And "Billy Packer has his head up his ACC."
