so far Harbaugh + Gattis = Ferentz + Davis.
Opposing styles that just plain do not sync well. I am hopeful that will continue. I have Hawks by a few and hope the hell I am right.

My obsession with Iowa State? That’s hilarious. I was literally spamming threads about Iowa football after we played ISU because almost every thread on this board was Iowa State related for about a week and a half (granted we were on a bye week).

The only reason I brought them up on this particular thread is because they happen to be the only respectable team we’ve played this year.

I like Iowa’s team this year and I’m pumped for this game, a game we can win. I guess the fans confidence level shouldn’t bother me other than that if we did happen to lose with this type of confidence level I could see the meltdown being pretty epic.

Yeah, as a fanbase we love to convince ourselves that everyone we play sucks, so if we win it becomes, "Big deal, we should have won," and if we lose it becomes, "Oh my God, the coaches are awful losing all these games we should win!"

This is a good team on the road. So was ISU. Yes, ISU was underwhelming against Baylor, and Michigan was underwhelming (understatement of the year) vs. Wisconsin, but good teams can have poor efforts in certain outings.

I am in the (probably irrational) confidence-camp on this one. This feels like PSU last year. I was pretty confident we were a better team that could win on the road. And I am pretty sure we were the better team. And we found a way to lose that one.

I think we are the better team here, but it is close. Before I can feel great about this Iowa team, I need to see them win multiple games against teams with similar talent levels with big stakes on the line.

I would count ISU as one such win, but that one was goofy. If they win this one, it will have a strong influence on my opinion of this team. If they dominate this opponent ala the Badgers, then I will probably not get anything done all of next week as I giddily await the PSU game.

Games such as this against a conference big boy, it seems like kids on the Hawks should have just a bit more of a chip on their shoulder to send a message.

Very well said. I will add I don’t think it’s irrational to think we will win this one, that Penn State game last year is a great example. Iowa very well can win this game. Let’s hope they do.

Ty Law is Michigan's Captain for the game .......................

"Harbaugh told Law the Iowa game is on homecoming.

“Which is not going to be a homecoming-type of game,” Harbaugh said. “It will be a real rough one.”

Law quickly accepted saying he would be honored and then offered a bit of trash talk.

“We going to go out and whoop some Iowa ass,” Law said."

I hope they’re overconfident. It’ll make the punch in the mouth when Iowa drives down the field for six for the game’s first points hurt that much more.

Do we come out like OSU in '17 throwing the ball all over the field and putting pressure (of course Hooker's INT return on the first play kinda set the mood too), or do we do what KF normally does....try to force the opposing team into KirkBall (i.e playing in a phone booth). I believe Iowa has had success against UM because Harbaugh wanted to prove he could play this style and it cost them.

I think if UM spaces Iowa out on defense, putting pressure on the LB to cover WR and doesn't fumble 18x, they'll have success. Iowa can't really afford to play the Cash defense due to all the injuries. So I see us staying in our base and hoping we don't break.

Im torn on the prediction. I think if Iowa wins it's a sloppy - ugly game, 13-10

If UM forces us into a shoot out, they win 35-21

I think Iowa will do what they always do to start the game. Run a few preset plays out of different formations to see how Michigan will play us - to gather information. Hopefully we're able to turn that information into a strategy that takes advantage of Michigan's rigid defensive scheme.

I'm fine with the scripting of plays. Brings me back to the Bill Walsh 49er days :)

The problem is when we don't appear to have learned anything and run into brick walls over and over. Some of that is on Stanley too when he has his bad days and can't hit wide open targets.

I doubt we'll every see another gameplan like OSU 2017 again unless Iowa is playing OSU.

God Damn. Im starting to vibrate. I need to avoid this site.

I want this game so bad. And every game this year. IMO this is the best Iowa TEAM I have seen in a long time.

Is it Saturday yet? Shit, I may not sleep tonight, that show jacked Im going to be.

EDIT: And I typed that as my man Jack Flaherty is about pitch in game 2 of the playoffs for the Cards.

I dont want to be the downer but I just dont see Iowa winning this game. On the road, Iowa is still banged up, Michigan has been shit on for weeks and needs a "coming out" game. 31-17 Michigan but I hope im wrong. If I am someone please call me out so I can eat dat crow

We could lose on a terrible call in the Natty and the meltdown would still be epic. We could win the same way and the hater meltdown would be just as epic :)

IMHO, I blv Mich throws the ball 50 times! Our defense determines the outcome.
