I think the important match of the night will be Ballweg, not from the stand point of who wins the dual, but repect for Ballweg Nationally. If memory serves me correct, he is 1-1 against higher ranked wrestlers so this will be a bit of a metal test for him. Yes it is at home and that gives him the edge, but i believe he needs to dominate this match for people to take him seriously going into tournament season.

141 - #5 Port Dec. #8 Ballweg 7-3 (Big test for Ballweg, very important match for NCAA seedings)
149 - #16 Habat Dec. Kelly/Grothus 7-6 (no reason Kelly shouldn't win this one if he's back, but he won't)
157 - #1 DSJ Maj. DePalma 11-6 (possible tech fall)

Huge match for Ballweg, but it's going to be tough. Port is no joke.

Losses: #1 Maple (11-14), #2 Stieber (7-12), and #4 Mangrum (5-7)

He's obviously got plenty of offense and was clearly competitive in each of his losses. Ballweg has to wrestle a smart match - he can't get away with letting Port get to his legs and then try to scramble for a TD. I hope Mark can pull of the win in front of the home crowd (on senior night, no less), but it's going to be an uphill battle.
 
And it is senior night. My nephew Jeret Chiri is a senior but has a year eligibility left if he wants it. Wrestled some varsity matches a couple years ago and has since had double hip surgery. Probably would have had a shot at 149 this year. He beat Grothus in the wrestling room earlier then suffered a back injury that has pretty much ended his season.

i remember you - you went by a different name on Scout. Anyway, I hope he is doing well - wrestling at 149 is a spot that Iowa needs someone to take hold of. Hope you enjoy the Senior Night (and wear Red White and Blue with your Black and Gold)
 
I don't see the dual on btn2go??? Seen it earlier this week and set a reminder, but don't see it...
 
Drove about 80 mph from Clear Lake back up to Rochester to see the damn match and its not on.... BS!
