Iowa v. Pitt

FIU jumped on pitt yesterday like 16 or 17 to 0 5 pitt stormed back to win 42- 25. Iowa will not start like fiu and even if we did we would stick our head in the sand and get steam rolled anyway. We just have a very uninspiring sideline of coaches. They act as if our opponents will make a big mistake and we'll win. They are the mistake and we will lose this game again by not having a pulse on offense. Pitt 35 - IOWA lucky to score 14. Sorry the 5 Isn't supposed to be there. 16 or 17 to 0.

Actually it is Iowa football. I am in the final phase so the knife no longer hurts. It is now my responsibility to help others who struggle with the painful/depressing addiction that is Iowa football.

You're on to something there...

All this pessimism gets old fast, this team is 1 play away from being undefeated. There is no reason at that they can't win, and keep winning. They have a lot of players back from a team that won a lot of games last year, and some very good new players. If you can't cheer for them too win, I will just have to cheer louder to make up for you all.

You surly can't be that clueless.....right?
Should be 0-3 and that's not even a reach.

Pitt looks very good this year - they'll dismantle us...could possibly be the first game I don't watch to the finish since I dunno when.

How many pick Iowa to win this game?

I have a feeling Iowa is going to get punched in the mouth by a faster stronger Pitt team that beat BC last week in convincing fashion.

I see every game left on the schedule as a coin flip, because all the rest of these teams, yes even wiscy and Nebraska, also really suck..

I'll take a 6-6 finish. Strangely, I also woke up with a numb feeling today. I usually have white hot anger a few days after an iowa loss, but there is more apathy than anything.

Iowa will lose to Pitt, but keep it in the probable spread, 28-21

Isn't Pitt where Paul Chryst of Wisconsin fame ended up? It's all right there for us to get woodshedded: an away game, against a guy who has played against us multiple times, with our morale low, and Pitt looking pretty tough. I hate to say it, but I see this is a 31-7 shellacking from the Panthers. But man, I hope Iowa throws caution to the wind and surprises me with a win. Think of what a huge 'W' that would be!

Another question: what happens if we see the changes we "want" (QB, RB distribution, more deep pass attempts) and we still lose?

When your very lucky to be 2-1 and should probably be 0-3 against UNI-Ball State-ISU than it's going to be a very long year. If Iowa plays like they have these last 3 weeks we finish at best with 3 maybe 4 wins.

Doubtful. If we play like that, we will be "stuck" on 2 wins.

Your optimism gets old, really old. I have never seen anyone see so much out of nothing. Iowa barely won 2 out of the 3 easiest games on their soft schedule and lost to the 3rd easiest game. How the **** are you so oblivious to that fact? Not to mention the team almost looks worse right now than they did against UNI.

"Almost" looks worse? Seriously? As bad as we looked weeks 1 and 2...week 3 was worse. And I didn't even get to see most of the "good" part of yesterday since we missed most of the 1st quarter in Orlando. So...WAS there a "good" part?

At this point it's a chance Iowa needs to take. What happened yesterday has been going on for several years now.

I know the grass is not always greener on the other side, but if you never go there you'll never find out. I believe those that take chances will eventually be the biggest winners in life.

Absolutely agree...but...are the necessary changes just at QB and RB carry allotment? I can't say with any conviction that our OL has looked anything beyond "adequate" the past 3 weeks.

Just the traditional September "Sh!t The Bed" loss we've become to know under Ferentz. There will also be a November win no one saw coming that in the scheme of things won't really matter in the long run other than bowl picking.

There will be NO further wins if several things aren't changed.

I am now like a team rooting for losses for draft position. This team going 7-5 or 6-6 will do nothing other than extend the futility. the money men need to separate from Kirk ferentz.

Agree.

If only it would give us a #1 draft pick.

I have a "gut feeling" 'that KF will give CJ extended PT in the first half and Iowa will move the ball during his possessions. Then, he will refuse to play CJ in the second half and the Hawks will lose. In his post-game presser, he will say going back to Jake in the second half was a "gut feeling" that Jake gave them the best chance not to lose.

I alluded in another thread that, maybe, Pitt will be the "full circle" moment, where KirkFer can stop this repetitive loop of the last 6 years' worth of bad decisions (that all began with his "gut feeling" to forfeit the Pitt game), and set Iowa football back on a competitive, competent track once again.

In the short term (the rest of the year) let's see a new QB and different running backs (less Weisman and Buillock) and more of Willes, Powell etc.

Long term, Barta needs to let Kirk know it's time to retire gracefully. If he doesn't have the nads to do it the university president needs to step in. If she doesn't have what it takes to do it then the fans will take care of it by showing up less and less which means the revenue will go down.

The latter's already started to occur if every so slightly. After yesterday smart people will start staying away.

When has Iowa's OLine ever been more than adequate? Iowa's OLine success has always been because of the blocking scheme and working as a united group.

I'd like to make a comment about a a comment made by Speilman <ESPN commentator> that all of Iowa's RBs are slow and have no elusive capabilities this season. I've got news: ALL Iowa's running backs in the KF era (including Greene) were slow and non-elusive. It was/is a Ferentz trait. Except one: Freddie.

Come on, Kirk. Did you think nobody would notice it was you? You're the only person who thinks you're a good coach.
