Iowa State This Year

Why is everyone saying Iowa is very inexperince. Yes we will be using some freshmen tallent, but Iowa is returning what 87% of their offense. I would not call that inexperinced by any means.

Playing a freshmen PG is very nerve racking. Who knows how he will do when the lights come on, but it sounds like hes going to be able to handle it. I mean look at White you would have never guessed that guy was a freshman by the end of the year!

This thread is about ISU, troll.

And they suck. And so does CyChamp.

ISU's season will depend on Clyburn this year. Either he's incredible like ISU fans think, or his scoring was more indicative of not playing against any Defense before. Babb, Booker, Lucious, all role players, they need a go to guy, and last year they had two in White and "white thug". It'll definitely be a good game though.

Clyburn is a lottery pick. Don't let them Clone fans tell you any different.

Yeah I've seen their board, it's borderline crazy. They seriously underestimate how important White was to their team last year. They win about 15 games without him.

No you haven't dips**t. There is hardly any talk about basketball. I have to say there is nothing borderline about your jacka**itude.

White was going to be a disaster last year and Fred couldn't coach according to Iowa fans. That prediction worked out great. Iowa fans haven't seen a real basketball team in about a decade, so I am sorry if your opinion means less than a bum's from the street.

ISU sucks, brah.

Uh oh, badass computer nerd on the loose. Go to the basketball forum dork, it's not spelled F-O-O-T-B-A-L-L.

It will be ISU's first road game. Iowa will have been @VT.

VT might contend with TT this year as the worst BCS conference team in the country. ISU is going to play Cincy, and ULNV or Oregon, as well as BYU. Yes, two are neutral sites and one is at home.

You boys over yonder in Ames got anyone coming in that was as good as Scotty C at hitting those threes?

Do we have anybody as good as the best 3 PT shooter in ISU history, who has a better career shooting percentage than anybody in Iowa's history... probably not, no. But we do have some good 3 point shooters.

Listen I'd be surprised if ISU won - Christopherson, Allen, and White is going to be pretty tough to overcome, especially offensively. Those three guys are also the worst defensives starters ISU had last year. Lucious especially will be a huge help in stopping pentration at the top of the key which was a huge problem for ISU all last year.

As to matching ISU's record last year, it's certainly possible. ISU struggled early last year. They lost to Drake and UNI again last year, and frankly the Big 12 will be down compared to last season. There is an opportunity to match the same number of noncon wins even though that part of the schedule is tougher, and a comparable number of conference wins, because that part is weaker. There are only 3 ranked teams in the Big 12 as of right now and ISU gets 4 games against TCU and TT.

Here's some quotes for you Brettso.

"Clyburn will get drafted yet doesn't make a top 50 list at his position. What's even better about these things are how high some true freshman are listed based of 0 playing time."

"Talking to a buddy of mine and we think we could be in for a special season this year. We have a chance to make last season look mediocre in comparison. Can't wait! "

"We need to go undefeated in the non conference. Only challenges should be Cincy and BYU."

"Quit with the Iowa love-fest/fear. They are going to struggle badly early on with their 2 starting Freshman. Woodbury will pick up fouls at an alarming rate against and athletic big man with a pulse and Gessel (who will be a good) will struggle against good defenders. We play them in the first few weeks of the season with a veteran team and 3 5th year senior starters including Babb who will guard Marble.

We aren't losing in Iowa City. I will concede that they should be a decent by seasons end but they aren't dancing. "

"They also lost the guy that won them a lot of game in Gatens. Them losing Gatens is bigger to them than us losing White IMO."

"Yes I watch quite a few of their games. Gatens was all they had besides White. And if you are going to play the defense card, then you can not honestly say you would take Marble over Babb. Listening you you argue in favor of Iowa makes me believe you think they are more talented than ISU. Are they a team on the rise, yes. But we still have a talent advantage over them. period. They do not have many players that would start for us if any. "

I'll stop there.

ISU lost 53% of their scoring, 40% of their rebounding, and 69% of their assists, with the departure of White, Allen, and Christopherson.

Wow, not as crazy as I would have been led to believe by your previous post. I would consider this pretty tame if you pulled it from CyFan, not much more than some opinions that have about a 50/50 probablility of being true.

I didn't go that deep, really didn't have to, it is quite possible that we have different opinions of crazy. You saw the post about Gatens and White right?

I like ISU at Iowa this year because I feel like we match up better defensively. Iowa will be a decent team this year, but early on, I like ISU.
