Iowa State This Year

ISU should be good this year if Lucious can be the same PG that played so well for MSU before he had the trouble. I think a lot of their season lays on how he does. Clyburn will be solid and they have a lot of good young players. But replacing White will be difficult. I believe Lucious is the most important guy because he will handle the ball the most and therefore will take over that role that White had.

Iowa will still be a little under the radar where ISU will not be this year. Both teams have a lot of new players to work in and get used to but ISU's are experienced which gives them the upperhand but I think the teams will be closer than expected.

ISU will definitely start out under the radar. They have been picked in the 7-8 range pretty consistently in the B12 pre-season rankings

What is funny is how Iowa fans bash Fred for taking on "so many transfers" but what is kind of interesting about the whole deal is this: The freshman Fred has recruited don't have to play right away, or they haven't had to. I don't like bringing in so many transfers as Fred has done, but he has built his depth with some quality freshman. Both programs are in a similar state right now, there are veterans on the rosters, but the freshman don't have to be the main focus from day one.

I expect the game to be very good and cannot wait for the season, the best thing about Iowa/ISU...they have reclaimed their proper positions as the two best programs in the state and both the BIG/Big 12 are better off for it. I like when both teams are good it makes for such a good debate on who is better, even after the game is over.
