I honestly forgot they played tonight until just now. I checked the score and learned there was no magic in Hilton tonight.

Oh, there was magic in hilton.
But the lucky charm elf wears green.

20-7...ranked 12. A little overrated perhaps?
Nah. Not when you play in the toughest conference in the country.

And I'll say it again. A conference shouldn't make the claim of being the toughest conference in the country when the same team has won the conference 11 consecutive seasons.

Duke or North Carolina hasn't done that.

Has Kentucky even done that in the pathetic SEC?

Gonna assume Floridas 07 national title year woulda taken care of that

Baylor made something like 7 straight 3s to pull ahead after being down. It was pretty crazy.

And ISU couldn't hit a three. They were 6-24 from three point land as a team. Baylor had more fouls, more rebounds, more steals, less turnovers and generally got to most of the 50-50 balls.

Proves once again: if you live by the three you die by the three. (Of course, ISU doesn't play much defense either)

Missing the 3-ball crushed Wisconsin against Maryland as well. Those are the type of teams that can be wildly inconsistent in the NCAA tournament. Unfamiliar neutral courts in weird locations and crazy travel schedules can easily lead to dying by the three.

I really want to know what they've done to earn this title, or is it just something they throw out there? As a conference, they have have the 8th ranked non-conference schedule (thanks to Kansas actually playing some good teams), and really have some terrible losses out of conference. Playing each other proves nothing, so OOC is what can really determine that. Kansas lost to Temple, WV lost to UCONN, ISU and OSU lost to South Carolina (2nd to last in SEC), Oklahoma lost to Creighton and Washington, Baylor lost to Illinois, KSU and Texas Tech has a list of bad losses too long to mention, TCU (OOC SOS of 349 out of 351 schools) went undefeated (woo hoo!). Not saying they're not good, but when I hear that they're the toughest conference in the country, I have yet to see it.

The eyeball test tells me it is a good conference. Kansas, ISU, Oklahoma are all legit sweet 16 teams I think. WV, OSU, and Baylor are just a notch down if you ask me. You can't take K-State lightly, at least playing them there.

I think when 60% of your conference is that good, and you have a K-State also, that is very tough night in and night out.

No doubt it's a tough conference night in and night out, but I disagree with your claim that KU, ISU, and Oklahoma are legit sweet 16 teams. I don't see it. If I had to guess I'd say one of those 3 get that far and I think Oklahoma has the best shot because they are the most well-rounded of the three. KU doesn't have much of a presence in the post, and ISU is far too inconsistent on defense.

ISU really surprises me with 7 losses. With all that talent there is no way they should have that many losses. Either Freddie is doing a poor coaching job or there is another problem. The times i have watched them they look a little selfish.

You would have said the same about the Big 12 in Football. The conference beat no one of note in their non conference football schedules but for some reason was anointed as the best conference. They were horrible in their bowl games. I think you will see the same in the NCAA tourney.

Baylor and Okie state non conference schedules were a joke. Baylor RPI is 7! No fricking way.
