Iowa leaves ARob, DJK out of 2010 season highlights film

My internet's running a little slow so I couldn't watch the video - did they include that Persa GW TD pass? Prolly the play of the year, followed by the Wisconsin fake punt (that no one saw coming) and the Pryor 4th down run (that no one saw coming).

I went to an I-club function and DJK and ARob were both in the season highlight film Not sure if this version is Iowa's "official" video for the 2010 season. Tempest in a teapot either way.

The highlite film must be awful dull without them. They provided nice moments this season. Their missing highlites would make this very incomplete. Also since there is possibility that A rob could return, this is even a bigger slap to him, and what he brought to the team this year.

That's garbage. Those guys screwed up, but hell, DJK had an awful lot of our highlights this past season.

I suppose they don't show anything from the Minnesota game now, right?

Pretty much. The video is on BHGP if you want to take a look at it.

DJK was the only player on the field who gave a **** against Minnesota, and Iowa wouldn't have beaten Michigan without him either.

Just speculation, but I doubt it. I don't think he would have the time. I'm sure someone in the athletics department has something to do with it, since it is being tied back as an official University highlight film.

So this guy who has been with the team since Ferentz came on board went out of his way to leave the career receptions and yardage leader out of the highlight video?

Ferentz probably did have something to do about the video, I mean it is "his" team after all.

very weak and classless move.

Ferentz is coming off very small in this while deal.

why doesnt the University show some real balls and forfeit the games those two played in and give back the money from the bowl those 2 players helped them get to?

I agree very childish and classless move by KF here.

I wouldn't include them if I were the coach. They did sign a letter of intent with the U of I. The university gave them everything they needed to succeed in life. Yeah, they are young college kids, but they all know what they are signing. They turned there backs on the University. I don't understand why people defend that. DJK wasn't a freshman, he was a fifth year senior, and should have been a leader.

It's part of life.

Not letting DJK wear an Iowa helmet for his all-star game was fair. But not including him OR A-Rob in the season highlight film? Give me a break. You can't just erase what those guys brought to the table for the team. They consistently made play after play all year. Yeah, they screwed up. That doesn't mean they weren't important members of the team.

Not to mention, it shortchanges the fans as well. I'm sure there are quite a few plays from both of them that fans would like to watch again (which you know, is the ENTIRE POINT of a highlight film). I seriously hope that KF didn't make that decision, because that's pretty petty of him if he did.

The fact of the matter is these two players chose to take part in things that are not in line with living the lifestyle of an Iowa football player, as the staff sees it. Robinson had the opportunity to return to the program after serving basically an academic suspension for the Insight. He chose to be in a car that had weed present the night before the bowl game, and got popped. Not a great choice. DJK made some horrible choices, too, and was removed from the program.

It's not surprising that they didn't appear in a highlight reel put together by the Iowa Football Video editor, nor do I find that to be extreme.

This is my take on it. Do I agree with not putting them in the highlight video? Yes, somewhat. They were both kicked off of the football team for good reasons. This is just one punishment in response of what they did. You can't forgive and forget to early IMO or else they won't learn. And there is more someone has to do then just say sorry to get back into good graces. But, highlight videos are meant for one thing. Promotion of your team and to get publicity in a way. Without the highlights of DJK and A Rob I don't think it is anywhere as good as it could have been and they probably made 25% of the highlights themselves or more to be honest.

The other way to look at that is that is that the "academic indigestion" probably doesn't happen if Kirk doesn't have him on the field halfway through the 4th quarter in a game the Hawks are leading 30-0. It doesn't take a very long leap to connect a needlessly suffered concussion to academic issues.

DJK is the programs all time receptions and yardage leader, and gave everything he had every time he stepped on the field.

Leaving them out of the official highlight video is petty and vindictive.

Has the question been answered just what this video is, where it was shown, etc? Could be Matt is just putting something together to promote the football program online, something where you hear all of the comments from announcers, etc, that can be used on twitter, etc.

It's possible. But I don't believe that the video coordinator who has been with the program the same amount of time Ferentz has would leave out DJK and Robinson - especially while prominently featuring Coker, who in reality played a small (figure of speech) role.

In my lifetime, I can only remember one Iowa receiver catching three touchdowns against Michigan. According to this video, that didn't happen. Hell, according to this video, Iowa didn't even play Michigan last year.

If I can submit a counter-point.

These are mostly hightlights of the Insight Bowl. My recollection is that neither ARob nor DJK played in that game.

Ferentz appears to be opening the door a little bit for an Arob return to the team.

I think people are overreacting here...please, get a life. Move on.

After watching the video, I'm not so outraged. I thought this was the official highlight video that comes out on DVD each year. If they are excluded from THAT, then I'll have a big problem with it. For a 7-minute video, you'd like to see them, but it's not as big of a deal.

lol

if true, which it appears, very petty, and immature on the part of any of those involved in that conscious decision to leave them out. too bad.
