Iowa leaves ARob, DJK out of 2010 season highlights film

A real dick move leaving them out of the video, assuming that was the case.

An even bigger dick move is to do something that warrants getting booted off the team. Booted. They got kicked off the team. Has that sunk in yet? Booted. There it was one more time. They got booted.

They sure were on the team when ARob was carrying the mail without any sort of backup early in the season. They sure were on the team when DJK was busy putting the finishing touches on breaking Iowa's receiving records early in the season.

But by all means, let's pretend that they weren't INTEGRAL parts of the success of the team in 2010. Better yet, let's have the 2010 season highlight film just consist of the Missouri bowl game and pretend nothing else happened last year.

After watching the video, I'm not so outraged. I thought this was the official highlight video that comes out on DVD each year. If they are excluded from THAT, then I'll have a big problem with it. For a 7-minute video, you'd like to see them, but it's not as big of a deal.

So you went on a rampage about it without watching it. Ok. Here's my perspective. Iowa gave them a lot, a free ride. They repay Iowa by bringing much scrutiny on the program. DJK was downright dumb and then when all of that is lingering over Iowa Arob goes completely stupid and really slaps the university in the face.

I don't care either way if they are in a video or not, but I don't think you can say it's bad either way.

The fact of the matter is these two players chose to take part in things that are not in line with living the lifestyle of an Iowa football player, as the staff sees it. Robinson had the opportunity to return to the program after serving basically an academic suspension for the Insight. He chose to be in a car that had weed present the night before the bowl game, and got popped. Not a great choice. DJK made some horrible choices, too, and was removed from the program.

It's not surprising that they didn't appear in a highlight reel put together by the Iowa Football Video editor, nor do I find that to be extreme.

Well I certainly hope neither James Ferentz or Riley Rieff aren't shown in any highlight videos either. Both of these guys live a lifestyle that is not in line with an Iowa football player. Unless getting drunk and leading cops on a chase is celebrated by the coaches.

Like I said, I thought he meant the DVD. I sure as hell wasn't going to sit and watch a video like THAT just to get all the information for one post on a message board.

No matter how much the university and football program might want to, they can't just pretend that those guys weren't important to the team's success. They can't pretend that they were never there. Maybe they should wipe DJK's records out, pretend he didn't set them? After all, he embarrassed the program, got kicked off the team.

Nope, but...

One of those men got kicked off the team for using drugs. The other is the well-respected head coach.

Which makes him incapable of making a mistake and being petty? I don't hate Ferentz by any stretch of the imagination. That doesn't mean I have to agree with the decision to leave A-Rob and DJK out of the video, or fail to find it vindictive.

Still waiting for any sort of evidence that KF had *anything* to do with this video.

It would hardly be a huge leap of faith to think that KF doesn't want those two associated with the program anymore, in any way (after all, he did boot them off the team).

Whether it was Ferentz or not doesn't really matter. It still doesn't come off that well.

Right. The head video guy for the school - who just happens to have been there as long as Ferentz has - went out of the way to remove those two completely despite both of them playing huge roles for the team last season.

We'll obviously never know if Ferentz played any part in it, but it doesn't take too long of a leap to think he did.

I hope KF was part of this, but since he has much more important things to do than edit the previous season's highlight video, I doubt he was.

Right, as if it would just be absolutely exhausting work for him to say: "I don't want them associated with the program in any way, shape, or form."

Something tells me that he could spit that out in under 6 seconds.

Fortunately. It's good that he could dismiss them so quickly considering all the BS he had to deal with and spend time on while those two a-holes were part of the team.

Now they are a-holes? Part of the reason we pay Ferentz god-awful sums of money each year is to deal with the BS that comes with having 115 18-22 years old under his review. And if he's going to stick with his "Aw shucks, I don't even know what social media is" attitude in an ever-changing environment that these kids are growing up in, he's going to continue to have to deal with BS as long as he coaches (in DJK's case). I'm still not sure what ARob did to deserve being called an a-hole...he screwed up in class and then got busted for pot, which constitute 2 terrible decisions. But I think you calling him an a-hole for it is the first time I've heard it.
