Iowa lands 3-Star QB Deuce Hogan for 2020 class

**Yawns**

I don't know why this is even news. The kid will only be a junior this fall. I hope he stays committed to Iowa, but there's still way too much time for things to change. His rating could increase before he graduates which may cause him to rethink his commitment.

Drop to a two star...then hit Iowa as an underachiever and break out from there...best case scenario to keep him from jumping to Wisconsin/Nebraska/Alabama/Michigan et. al.

Well minus any guys changing their minds down the road QB is pretty much locked up for the forseeable future

Rivals lists him as 17th best QB in the country, pro or dual. Either that's off or he should be a 4 star.
I believe 247 has him as around the 327th(?) best prospect in the country which is just outside of their 4-star range. Looking at his offer and interest list already shows a ton of big names, so I would be surprised if he didn't add another star by the time it's all said and done.
Most would be worried about Texas, Oklahoma, LSU. Not Nebraska or Wisconsin.
Normally I'd agree with you, but in his announcement he specifically stated one of the reasons he chose Iowa was because we run a pro-style offense. Kids got a hell of a football mind too. His father is his HS coach, and apparently he spent a ton of time with KOK in the film room and on the white board during his visit here, which blew him away. I love, love, love this pickup and I think for being nearly a year and a half out from signing I'd argue he's pretty solidly ours *crosses fingers and knocks on wood.

Yeah, I have to think that he clicked well with kok and he probably knows that the way we do things and the system we run are going to give him the best shot at a future in football. Besides having a coach as a father, I have to kind of think he's smart about the game but not all wishy washy about making decisions.
Let's hope he follows some of the way others have been doing it and graduates early and gets on campus early.
Our qb room is starting to look pretty nice. It will be interesting to see who steps into the #2 spot this year. That's one heck of a race, as well as it should be. Nate is kind of setting the bar pretty high.

^ I would be very surprised if Mansell isn't #2.
Well hopefully he is being pushed. I know we are all starting to get excited about the up coming season, but we have a ton of young talent and Nate has what 2 seasons left?? We don't need a drop off after that. Get them some mop up duty snaps, but let them work on stuff and not just hand the ball off and eat clock.

Talented QB recruits become great if they are used, and properly...this is the bigger challenge at Iowa...where it seems newly minted QBs regress under vanilla coaching and...well...fear...

It’s hard to me to be too happy or upset about a 2020 recruit. If he gets an offer from Texas AM or Texas he’s gone. I give this guy 10% chance of ending up in IC.

Oh the lack of faith in young people today. He really likes the connection to O'Keefe and Kirk. Yeah, he could leave if one of those schools offer, but 10%? C'mon man.

At least he was very scientific in his method to get to 10%. Because of his connections and love of our use of Pro-Style I'll give him 95% chance he comes here BAM

Okay, I agree, I was being my usual glass half empty personality. I’ll say it 50/50
