Iowa just isn't a good football team

Only one other Big10 QB in the last 20 years has gone on the road, threw for 300+ yards, 5TD 0 INT.

And he did it in his second game as a starter.
Against an in-state rival.

Just to balance out the he's got to do better than overthrowing 14 open receivers after a 27-41 PA 333 yards 5 TD 0 INT performance.

I thought James Butler was going to make a difference. He ain't.
I thought our experienced O-line was going to dominate. They ain't
I thought the D-line was going to be a force. They ain't.
I thought the LBs were some of the best in the county. They ain't.

You're the same "fan" who panicked after Penn State last year and sold your tickets to the Michigan game because you thought the same thing as you're trolling today. It's one game. Yet your dumb enough to jump off the cliff already.

Smith Marsette looks to be a nice receiver for us with some speed. Wadley played a hell of a game, fun to watch. Stanley showed more composure, threw some nice balls, but has to connect on wide open deep balls like he had today. I think he'll be fine, but need some other threats to emerge at receiver. ISU has a bad defense, gonna see much better in the conference. Very concerned about our defense, especially the secondary, and safety play is atrocious. I'm sorry, but we have to have better than Gervase and Taylor. Just not gonna cut it in the Conference schedule.

Exactly. We're fine. What Stanley did today in his second start, on the road, in a hostile environment is amazing to me.

Looks like 6-6 or 5-7 at best. I'd prefer 5-7 to avoid forcing non-player students to get stuck in Detroit over Christmas, which I wouldn't force on my worst enemy. ISU is probably a bowl team, but when an Iowa State team plays tougher in the second half of a football game than Iowa, the Iowa coaching staff is either working with zero talent or has utterly failed in their jobs.
This was the 2nd game of the season...2-0 I will take it.

Every win in a game like this, in a season like this is +1 in the expected victory count, plain and simple. I heard 5-7, 6-6, 7-5....well, you need wins like this one and last week. Its 2 in the bucket. Points dont carry over but the learning process does. I think the talent is there. Its either young or inexperienced. Two more FULL weeks of practice until it gets REAL! 3-0 after next week was the best possible start. From there, we shall see.

Happy with any kind of win @ ISU. QB play improved; some hope at WR. This team will learn from its mistakes and improve throughout the season. Preason I was hoping for 7 wins; I'm up to 8 now.

Apologies as I had surgery earlier this week and am under the influence of vicodins and was forced to drink beers on top of it in order to be able to watch this game, so my judgment may be skewed here, but we seem to have a deadly combination of no pass rush and a horrible secondary which will make our defense downright hard to watch this season. If I'm mistaken and we have a pass rush or a decent secondary, please forgive me. In addition, the offense looks pretty bad.

How about your cats?????

Really disappointed with our defensive game plan. Our defense looked bad a good part of the game, but they were able to come up big when they needed to.

Hard to tell how good/bad this team is yet. They are unbeaten, so there is that, but they have been really rough so far.

This was a great win in one respect, though. After falling behind, they picked themselves up and came back strong. They could have given up. Especially after that last ISU touchdown. Come back from 10 down to tie it up, just to watch that long TD. That was crushing, and a lot of teams would have given up. Ours didn't. They went right back at it, moving the ball right back down the field. I'd prefer that Wadley didn't have to do his Superman impression to keep us in the game, but I was glad to see it was there when we needed it.

When was the last time a Hawkeye quarterback completed a pass to nine different receivers?
Of course our secondary looked weak... I don't think even Ohio State has the kind of receivers Iowa state has... That sounds odd but it is probably the truth. Our safeties got torched but that is something that can be remedied I hope. Gervase looked like a walk-on. But we found a way to win in a hostile environment.
We really struggled offensively after Ike went down... But we recovered after a few series.
Kudos to Stanley for taking a huge step forward today and I thought Brian Ferentz called a very good game even though Stanley checked into plays that I said what the hell? Listen to the radio rebroadcast tonight and Eddie thought perhaps the offensive line didn't hear the audibles.. fact is we won... And very few of the radio TV and print pundits thought we would win this game.
BTW... Could Campbell look any more like a dork with that hat of his? The TV really made ISU fans look like Hicks... Thank you ESPN for showing the disparity between the two schools.
