Iowa is 2 games over .500 going into Big Ten play

That would be a 33% winning percentage. What exactly would a team losing 2/3rds of their games be competeing for? The only thing Iowa is competeing for is 7th place.

People seem to mistake liking the team with the team being talented. Yeah, the coach has a pulse, and the players don't look like their parents died anymore, but God bless 'em, they just are not as good as the other teams.

6 wins and that winning percentage would be better than last year and would be more enjoyable to watch.
Iowa has talent, it is young talent, but I will take it, we need more talent and there are two talented players joining next year, maybe more.
I guess if people are expecting Iowa to win more than 6 games that is not reality, unless this team surprises.
Competing to me is playing hard every possession good or bad and trying to put yourself in the best position to win. Nobody can argue Iowa hasn't done that this season. The BT poses a different challenge, I am just hoping not to see the 20+ pt losses like last year.

So like I said before, we are trapped in a semantics debate. Now, instead of defining "the corner" we are defining "competeing".

I guess to me, competeing in the Big 10 means, you know, winning Big 10 games, not playing hard. For most of last season, I didn't have a problem with how hard the team played, and they wewren't competeitive.

Had we beaten SDSU/WF/ISU/LBSU your view would be different and competing for 7th place and a postseason bid. There is vast improvement with this team. If Iowa does win the 6 games don't leave you make good points.

This is the opnion from the smart phone community...

I don't think I'm impressed or dissapointed with the current record. We all had a good idea going in who we were this season. So far what I've seen and heard indicate we are on the right track. At the very least we are interesting to watch again.

Actually, if we have moved from defining "turning the corner" and now defining "competing" then we have turned the corner. Last year, no way do we talk about competing, especially in the BT. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying competing for a title or anything because that would be nutty. Competing against the quality teams of the BT and winning 6 games would be a huge accomplishment, in my mind. Had we won the 4 that we should have, then we could have 17 wins for the season and a possible NIT bid. So I think we have turned the corner and the next step is compteing in the BT. Who would have thought we could be anywhere having a chance at 17 wins? I still think 6 wins are very high expectations, we don't have enough depth and we are suspect at the PG position, which is essential. Give us more recruits, depth and maybe we win those games we should have won this year.
