Iowa home attendance down 6% in 2015

The early games had poor attendance due to the very low expectations and waning interest. Attendance picked up as the season went along, but the home game slate was still really boring. I'd be surprised if we don't have a season full of sell outs in 2016.

This is right on,everyone wanted changes, didn't think we would be any good. Some still won't buy tickets but that will give others a chance to get season tickets.

Yup I am one of those who would rather see Iowa play Mich, or Ohio State, or any other good P5 program and possibly lose than play a North Texas, Illinois State.

I was totally impressed with the Purdue attendance, on an absolutely miserable day. Early indicator that the fans are BACK, and 2016 should absolutely be up.

Everybody likes a winner.

I for one benefited from the loss in attendance. i was able to move up 20 rows in my section of Kinnick for the 2015 season.

Additionally, the payoff for keeping season tickets paid off for the Rose Bowl. Pretty stoked to be going to Pasadena this year.

Flight and hotel will be paid for using points and got my tickets at cost.

I'm ready for this, GO HAWKS!!!!

It should be interesting next year. We'll find out if winning cures everything or not. I don't think it does and the reason is, we've seen this movie before. We've seen great seasons with a lot of returning starters end up falling short of expectations. And the kind of apathy it takes to lose 7K fans doesn't all revolve around wins/losses. I'll bet season tickets will pick up about 2K for next year but that's all.

Do you think KF's approach will be different from 2010? 2005?

I think we will see more of a spike than that. Maybe we only pick up 2K more in season tickets, but the gate swill be bigger because we have way better home games. ISU will be a sell out, and I would guess so will Wisconsin, Michigan and Nebraska or really close. The total attendance gain should be considerably better than 2K per game for the year.

I have no idea. But that's not why I think the fans won't be hurrying back. It takes a LOT....A LOT to **** off season ticket holders, for them to walk away. I don't think it's going to be that easy to get them back. Just my opinion, obviously. We'll see if it holds true.

I get what you are saying given what went down with Sally Mason and how people consume sports these days. Give someone a taste of the other side, you crunch the number in terms of time and money spent and it is easy to see why season ticket holders wouldn't come back. Not saying you are right, but I get the thought process.

I always think it's funny when someone says the schedule isn't that good.I go to watch the team and see the new guys playing, just like this year you never know.I do feel that ticket prices could be lowered for non conference games and try to get some better teams to play.

thats a good point. Those that walked away from their season tickets knew they would lose their priority rank for seats. that type of decision, they understand the consequences of walking away. They are not the ones who will come rushing back. I think they made up their mind they were not coming back no matter what. They may attend a single game every now and then, but they are done as season ticket holders.

If the season tickets go up, it will probably come from new or younger fans who are now ready to take the plunge.

And just what was your prediction for wins and losses this year? Just flloors me that we go undefeated and have Coach of the year in the entire country and still people want to find a reason to ***** and moan or point to past years. Stay home and watch on your HD tv so you can go potty and not have to wait in line and have your thermostat on 70 degress all season and we'll see and what in live HD in Kinnick!

Tailgating with fellow Hawkeyes, walking to Kinnick, watching our team come out of the tunnel is enough reason for some of us to be there on Saturday's.Oh can't forget the BOOM.

My prediction for how many empty seats was a lot closer to how many wins, prior to the season. I'm not moaning about anything. I'm simply stating an opinion and judging by the fact that there were empty seats for the last couple of games, in spite of our undefeated record, tells me that my theory may prove more accurate than not. Again, we'll have to wait and see.
