Iowa Football Looking for Answers on Offense

Reading Scott Dochterman's 9/10/22 article on the Iowa offensive situation, he stated that this spring Iowa went to the transfer portal for two FBS starting QB's, one group of 5 receiver, and a couple offensive linemen who opted for other B10 schools.
All declined.
So it appears our coaches knew we had shortcomings and needed help at QB and OL, but couldnt get the help we needed via the portal.
Not a good sign.

See this just makes it worse. If petras is truly THAT bad, why not just tank and start building Labas? You just make yourselves look like fucking idiots by tripling down on a QB who looks lost.

Interesting. Yea, I agree, not a good sign. Not being able to pull linemen when you are so good at putting them into the NFL is not a good sign either.

In August I posted that Iowa had brought in the fewest players from the transfer portal among all B10 teams.

I was frustrated that our coaches were too stubborn to utilize this resource for players or too overconfident that no help was needed.
It seems the actual reason is worse: no offensive talent wants to come here.
Most disheartening is that even offensive linemen in the portal dont want to come to "O Line U".

O line weakness is my biggest fear for the Future. Portal and recruiting should be a slam dunk at Iowa.
 
You would think that a program that has a former Olineman as the HC and OC could pull most OL transfers if they wanted.

What a shit show this program is turning into.

We have always been way behind the others offensively, but now we cant even stay up with the portal and NILs.

Its time for some new blood.

Too bad 7 sell outs makes sure that wont happen.
 
The real reason we can't pull players from the portal is they look at Iowa and don't believe (like 95%of Iowa fans) that there is really any competition allowed for the QB spot. Other coaches in the league have gone to playing their QB's and playing multiple guys to see who is the best. At Iowa we can only speculate.
