Iowa fans should root for Boise State

This is asking a lot. I hate Boise State... with a passion.
Its almost like asking me to cheer for Minnesota!
I will do my best, but I can't say I would be upset if Boise loses.
I am just banking on Iowa going undefeated the rest of the season!

Go Hawks!

That's assuming Boise State wins out. I think a 10-2 Iowa team will be higher in BCS than a 11-1 BSU team. I'm not worries about them or their threat on taking a bid from Iowa.

I'm more arguing if they lose this game, if they lose the last game of the year, yeah probably won't happen.

Okay I got you. I could see it if they lose this game. But then again, if they lose this one, they'll have the VT game as their signature win, which at this point doesn't look like much. They had one win last year against a marquee team. But Oregon followed up with a Rose Bowl berth. VT may not even win their division in the ACC. Boise needs this game to make up for their weak schedule the rest of the way.

I like Boise, I loved watchin them beat Oklahoma....absolute classic, but in this game I am rootin' for Oregon State...I love the Rodgers bros., and it's too early in the season to worry bout Bowl Scenarios...if we happen to win all the rest of our games or lose 1 or 2, I will still be very happy with the season no matter where we go

Can't bring myself to do it. Blue field is reason enough plus I saw some fans with those soccer horn things.

Agreed. Saw and heard the soccer horn things as well. Very tough to go for The O'Boises.

I understand the BCS implications, but I will honestly be deliriously happy if Iowa wins their next four games, let alone goes 8-0 in the B10.

Storm if OSU goes to NC and Boise or TCU are in the top 8....This year they automatically go to Rose Bowl, doesn't matter if Iowa's ranked ahead of them or not.

If Boise St loses a game they will not be in the top 8. I think they have to win all their games to get into a BCS game.

I think Iowa fans have to root for Nevada. Even if Boise State wins out, gets to #2 in the BCS, there is TCU right behind them. So say OSU goes to the BCS title game, Alabama has to lose to make BSU to go to anything other than the Rose Bowl. TCU is (probably a #3) and replaces OSU in the Rose.

If they lost tonight and won out why would they be ranked in the top 8? For beating Nevada? C'mon Jon. Computers would kill them and pollsters have always been shaky on BSU.

Agreed. If Boise loses a game, they will fall behind some schools from real conferences that have 2 losses. I don't think there's any reasonable way they could work their way back into the top 8.

I think Nevada can beat them. I wouldn't be surprised if Nevada gets the BCS bid over TCU and Boise St.

It looks to me like Boise State will run the table. Jon, will that be good enough for them to make it to the NC game, in your opinion?

I'm not going to get excited about Iowa in a big bowl game unless we beat Penn State and Michigan. I think they will both be tough games for us. In fact, I would take a split of those games right now --

I was rooting against Boise because there is no way a team with that high school schedule should have a chance to be national champions. James freaking Madison beat Virginia Tech by more than Boise did for God's sake.

I just can't bring myself to cheer for Boise. Their AD even admitted that they take advantage of the BCS by utilizing strategic scheduling. There toughest game in the last two years was TCU? Seriously? Most teams that are seeking a BCS berth are playing 5-6 Top 25 teams on their schedule. Should James Madison be considered a BCS contender because they beat Virginia Tech?
I even think that a 2-2 Oregon State made the Top 25 in time for the Boise St game was a ploy from the media. The media loves Boise State because they make for a great story and all the haters love them because they **** so many great teams off. Sure they keep winning, but who was the last team they played they were supposed to lose to? Oregon in Boise? I am not amused by Boise... I hope somebody beats them and will continue to cheer against them and their hypocritical fan base/management.

I mean, Iowa plays more Top 25 teams in the next month then Boise plays all year. How does anyone think Boise would play against Penn St, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Iowa? Get real. They are amusing and they are taking advantage of a system that the BCS will have to change because other small schools will copy this POS strategy and the real contenders in the real conferences will continue to beat each other out of contention. Will it take Nevada vs. TCU for the National Championship for people to understand how ridiculous this is?

What I don't understand is people say Boise could play with anyone (and I admit they probably could but you don't reward a team for what they look like when they play crappy or mediocre teams). This is based off of what? People say they've proven themselves in the bowls the last few years, um, they went two and two since playing Oklahoma. They lost to ECU in one of those games. Sure they beat Oregon, which is a good win and maybe a BCS game worthy win and that's what they got.

Not to mention that those games shouldn't matter when determining this years champion. Who have they beaten this year? A team who lost to James Madison and a 1-2 team. I understand Va. Tech will compete for the ACC title, Oregon State will be decent and Nevada will probably be good but the rest of the WAC is a joke. The non-Boise WAC has gone 5-23 vs other BCS schools or BCS quality opponents (BYU, UTAH etc) in their games this year and last year. Their biggest win was probably Cal or I guess.

You look at the bottom of our standings and a team like Indiana would probably beat most WAC teams easily. Other teams crappy conference teams like Colorado and Washington have blown out non-Boise WAC teams.

Anyways, I'm rambling. The point is Boise are stupid faces.
