Iowa Cleared of Rhabdo Wrongdoing

The School was cleared...I still have my paranoid conspiracy theory of "Bad Batch of Supplements/Steroids".
We gotta be able to get speed and talent without signing the bad apples, my only true gripe with Kirk. Can we get more kids like Shaun Prater who can represent Iowa and fewer like Adam Robinson and...it breaks my heart to say it, but DJK?

Ummm, if it weren't for Shaun Prater's loudmouth brother this whole story wouldn't have blown up the way it did.

You sign kids that you think are going to represent your university well, but sometimes it doesn't work out. Kirk doesn't go out there and say "well this kid is kind of an ***, but he is good enough to put on our squad and let's just hope he doesn't **** up." No siree.

Absolute BS. You put 13 of your players in the hospital, it is going to be news. What did Prater's brother do, say Angerer didn't know the situation, which he didn't? I think hardly anyone outside of Iowa has even heard this aspect of the story.

I think he's insinuating that prater's brother leaked the info to Doyle. but i agree this was going to blow up either way.

This is a shocking revelation. Who could have ever guessed that the Iowa program would be cleared.

Do you wear one of those tin foil hats? I am sure you think there is some sort of cover up after 9/11 as well, right?

Love the screen name by the way.

I did not read the report, I am only commenting on what I heard off of the radio news reports. I'm not trying to stir the pot but I have 2 honest questions:

1) I have the understanding that the investigation was internal, and that no outside investigators were allowed. How would this not skew the findings?

2) I have the understanding that Iowa will now not require the 100 squat routine. If nobody did anything "wrong," or no one was held responsible, why change the workout? Common sense tells me that if "nothing was wrong" with the workout, why change it.

EDIT: I'm not trying to bash the program or the workout, but if 13 players were sick enough to be hospitalized, something is not right, and should be of concern to all involved.

Jim Rome just had a teaser for his burn on Iowa...something to the extent of oh it was because of squats? riiiiight. Prepare to be annoyed.

Just like a kid throwing a temper tantrum. Let the talking heads get it out of their system and then they will move their attention elsewhere.

1) You are incorrect. An outside firm performed the investigation.

2) This is PR but I agree with you that it is kind of stupid to say that there is nothing wrong with the workout and then say that they aren't going to do it anymore.

Thanks. Either I misunderstood, or it was reported incorrectly.

Yeah, doesn't make sense. The whole thing has been a PR nightmare.

Why do people keep listening to this idiot? It truely baffles me.
Rome is great, he does the best interviews. Yes, his show is edgy and you really need to know the show as there are a lot of inside jokes/vernacular, but I regularly LMOA when I listen. You need to give it a try.

On second thought it was actually smart of them to discontinue the workout. Their claim has always been that they have been doing this workout for years w/out a problem but then something occurred that resulted in the players being hospitalized. Bince they could never identify what the x-factor was they eliminated the workout. It was either that or do nothing in which case if another player suffered from rhabdo they could be claimed to be negligent.

Understandable. From the outside, it could look like an admission of guilt, however. I wouldn't want to see someone get seriously hurt from these workouts.

I think it was funny when the bow ties and the gray haired ladies talked about some of the players not being able to tie their shoes, or whatever after the squat workout. That was hillarious. What athlete hasn't done a serious leg workout and had difficulty in dressing afterwords?
