Iowa Cleared of Rhabdo Wrongdoing

I really do like Rome but sometimes he is just too much. You def have to be in the mood for him, today I am not in the mood for Iowa cracks.

1) You are incorrect. An outside firm performed the investigation.

2) This is PR but I agree with you that it is kind of stupid to say that there is nothing wrong with the workout and then say that they aren't going to do it anymore.

I could be wrong, and I didn't listen to the presser so this is just second hand. But I thought he said they weren't going to do the workout anymore until they figured out what caused/led to the rhabdo.

Just reported on 1620 the Zone's Unsportsmanlike Conduct, they are saying it was an internal investigation. fyi....

Wasn't it done by the Iowa Board of Regents?

from http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/bigten/2011-03-23-iowa-rhabdomyolysis-probe_N.htm

An intense weightlifting exercise seriously injured the muscles of 13 University of Iowa football players in January, causing them to be hospitalized with symptoms of rhabdomyolysis, according to a special report presented Wednesday to the state Board of Regents.

It's still a conflict of interest IMO but it wasn't handeled "internally"

Looks like it was internal per your link. See the 2nd paragraph:

"A five-member faculty and staff committee appointed last month by university President Sally Mason said in the report that it could not pinpoint an exact cause of the rhabdomyolysis suffered by the players."

So some might say that there is a definite conflict of interest.

Either way, the more I read about rhabdo, the scarier it looks. Hopefully the players don't have any long-term effects.

I dont think this can be done outside of the University. The personal medical information of the players is protected and I highly doubt the U of I is willing to allow someone on the outside, to have access.
If that information was leaked to the public, the U of I wouldnt have the authority to fire the offending individuals.
Besides, this is the kind of incident that would open the door for a mother of a lawsuit, especially if there was any funny business with the investigation.
I would guess that 13 players involved in a lawsuit against the U of I, would far exceed KFs buyout PLUS the cost of resurrecting Vince Lombardi and paying his salary.

Sorry girls. You'll have to catch Jesse for your next conspiracy theory fix. I guess this will have to be added to the list of cover ups that KF has orchestrated.

Ah gotcha, missed that. So was the staff from the University of Iowa? Or did SM appoint people from other universities? Not that it really matters, it's still a huge conflict of interest that she was the one appointing them. Just curiosity more than anything.

I really don't think it's that scary and doubt you'll see any long term effects. But maybe i'm just being hopeful.
