Introducing the 2014 Iowa State Defense

No seriously, can someone tell me who these guys are? I just happened upon their two deep on rivals and looked at the experience they have coming back in 2014. That whole defense has like 2-3 guys that have played at all and have any statistics for 2013. Their front seven is laden with RS Freshmen and Sophomores who haven't played. They do have a few seniors on the DL, but they haven't played much if any.

I'm sure the ISU trolls can go into detail that this is exactly the way they like things, or "Yeah, we tried to do that". I'm sorry but if our OL is healthy, our offense is going to go to punish them for being bad. How do these guys talk crap about Brandon Scherff's weightlifting feats? More than likely it was an ISU offensive player...the defensive guys are telling them to shut up and not **** him off.

I'm not sure I've seen a major college defense with this little experience. Thank goodness they have Mangino to outscore everyone.

It was their Captain and leader Cory Morrissey who was running his mouth about Scherff. Does that surprise you? The guy who should be leading by example and keeping his mouth shut decides to pop off at a man who's in the process of earning himself a paycheck worth more money than Morrissey will probably ever make in the rest of his life.

Look no further than the head clown. With that "leader" at the help is it all surprising that some turd was talking shiat to a potential top 5 pick?

Look guy, this Morrissey lad is captain of one of the best defenses in the country. A defense that has never given up more than 72 points in any game since he's been on campus.

Good point, but the bulk of the credit for such a feat has to go to the "Wizard". Unless you think his swift rise atop one of the worst defenses in all of college football was merely on his avg ability?
 
I really think we physically punish them this year. Morrissey making those comments is perfect for us. I'm expecting one of our best games in this series on our side in a while.
 
It doesn't matter who the defense is. Mangino and Lazard will have that offense on the field for roughly 50 minutes a game and score a touchdown every drive. That only leaves us 10 minutes with the ball, not enough time to catch up with all those Lazard touchdowns.
 
They have good severe problems over there. One of their most experienced d backs is Richardson at 5.7. Throw in a bunch of freshmen and inexperienced players and it's going to be another tough year on the momentum wagon.

But they have 8 legitimate D1 starters at wide receiver and the best offensive line they have ever had, and the best OC in the game of football. Who needs a defense?
 
2 people from last year are gone. That 6'7 guy was arrested for enciting the Brisbane riot I believe. Rodney Coe is gone too, not sure why.
 
I've been a little tough on people about calling Cyclone Fan dillusional...but after looking at what is coming back for them on defense...if they don't think they have SERIOUS problems on that side of the ball, then they must wear the "dillusional" tag with honor.

If Iowa were returning three starters and had a two deep on the DL with little to no experience...plus 6 of the 8 are either RS Freshmen or true Sophomores, I'd say we going to be bent over in a big way, even with our schedule the first ten games. Cyclone Fan truly believes they will be ready and they all are going to step up. With Mangino at the helm of their offense, I'm predicting a 77-63 game, because Iowa may actually get a few stops.

Uh huh. They still need to stop the other team occasionally. Given that the defense gave up and average of 38 points a game last year. They are going to need a great offense. And as for those D1 ready recievers. One is a Juco. Couple are freshmen. ISU QB's are average. Neither is all that good. Best offensive line they have ever had? Don't think that's going to be enough. Think there were a couple of losses on O line if I remember right. Offensive coordinator is new. New system. New problems.
