Interesting article on trying to increase ticket sales & better fan relations at Iowa

The whole pay a bunch of money to get in somewhere, only to get price gouged for food and drink the entire time you are there is ruining everything. If you paid good money to get it, it should be of some sort of benefit to you being there versus somebody on the outside of the event. Right now its the total opposite. Stay home where its warm, drink your cheap store-bought case of beer, and enjoy whatever food you want at retail price. Or, go to the game, get charged a whole bunch to get in, endure the weather and the stiff seating, and spend a fortune on food and *non*-alcoholic drinks.

I read this article a while back about the Atlanta Falcon's fan-friendly concession price strategy, and it makes total sense. If you price stuff reasonably, people will buy more of it and you'll make more money. What a concept!

Same way with movies at theaters, concerts, every single sport, amusement parks, etc. Just went to a concert at United Center. Just shy of $11 for one bottle of beer. They didn't do anything with that beer except keep it cold.

Need more? I do agree that TV revenues will tank once the older generation dies off. Cable Stats

31% of ages 18-29 have cable compared to 84% of age 65+

Is that strictly due to preference or disposable income? Hard to say.
I don't care to debate what "really is" or "really isn't" the national ecomonomic reality. If you believe that price and quality of product doesn't dictate how many people buy season tickets to Iowa football....that's on you.

Good, because the debate would be very one-sided.

I'm sure ticket sales are affected by a lot more than just price and quality of product, where did I say those two weren't factors?

I was never talking to you about this topic, to begin with. Not sure how you got involved. I'm done with it and you.

This lays at the feet of one Gary Barta. Yeah we have a shortfall but lets pay an agency who knows little about the Hawkeye psyche to tell us how to better fan engagement. Get rid of Gary Barta for starters and DO NOT give a new contract to a guy or gal that has marginal success and award them with a ludicrous buyout plan. It's optics people! Why would anyone at the top level of basketball come to Iowa...(unless we start participating with Addidas and hire Larry Brown as a "Consultant" nothing will change especially with McCaffrey at the helm)

Not sure? Are you daft?? When you quoted my post and responded to it that was "talking to me" LOL.

You can bash our coaches, players and other posters on here everyday but as soon as you get 1 oz of anonymous criticism you go to your corner and pout? Jesus I even agreed with half of what you said too and provided links to prove it
