Important Thread: Corn Corners

So we have these small, empty grass corners in the southwest and southeast corners of Fort Kinnick. Along the lines of adding the hawk logo to the water tower and the logo in black at center field, how about corn in those corners like we have at the main gate to the stadium? It's a little hokie, but it would be unique to us. As the season goes we could all watch the corn grow, maybe even detassle (spelling) if needed. One potential drawback though is a couple drunk dillholes jumping in it and running through it or hiding in it, wouldn't that be interesting. If we can't get this done, can we at least get some black and gold flowers in there? It's just wasted space at the moment. Come on admin. This should be our main focus right now. Details.

I've always wondered why there isn't landscaping of some sort in there, just weeds or whatever it is. Corn would be cool, not sure viable, by cool just the same!

I don't hate the idea...something should be done there for sure. Only negative thing I can think of is the late november games (MN this year, Nebby every other year) would have dead or harvested corn in those areas and look kind of barren and weird or ugly...tilled dirt?

Plus, you know, Nebraska is literally the corn huskers.

Yeah, I thought about the fall corn. I think it still looks pretty good though. Might be a good gauge for where we are at in the season... "Corns growing" "corns turning"harvest time"

We already have enough of a stigma to battle here in Iowa. Krist, we just were able to get the pregame to stop showing combines in the field prior to every big ABC game for krist's sake. I say we fence it off good & throw some hogs in there.

Neato idea but as someone said before we have a stigma and need to overcome it. Pave it and make more seats a positive would be blocking the wind (for fans and field alike).

Um, we are the team with the ANF logo blazened on our helmets. Now I know the Farm Bureau pays good money to keep that logo on there, but it does stand for American Needs Farmers. It is such a blatant commercial advertisement by the farm group but no one says a thing. Might as well become NASCAR and sell patch space on the jerseys and pants. Premium space at the top. I know we have Nike but c'mon there is a lot of wasted space on those uniforms and so much money that could be had. Heck with the fans. Who would not want to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes sponsored by Pepsi, Cheerios, John Deere, Ford, Proctor & Gamble and on an on. But yeah ANF! plant that corn (sponsored by Farm Bureau)!

Corn is $3.75 per bushel. I'd rather see us be a consistent top 10 team year after year and fill those corners in with seats at a reasonable price with more screaming Hawk fans to generate even more noise.

Uh, have pictures of Iowa's first capitol building at Iowa City. Wait, that's also been done into the ground by the sports channels. And the train ride into the stadium. You'd think the sports channels would come up with something original... Pink locker rooms?

How about planting corn on the sidelines while they're at it! Kind of like the "Between the Hedges" inside Georgia's stadium, "Between the Husks".

Have it be popcorn and while Iowa plays in the dog days of August at home, watch the popcorn pop. One would need goggles. Hey, it happens in cartoons.

New route for the Bakken pipeline potentially? That would generate some revenue and make a good mess out of the area.

We should turn them into rain forests, each under their own small biodomes. People will flock from around the world to see them.

We've got to leave it grass & weeds as long as ISU visits every other year. Where else will their coeds graze during halftime?

I really think we should have Floyd of Rosedale the second grazing peacefully in the grassy knoll. Every time we are on TV, I wait for the network shots of the corn fields and at least one picture of hogs and a farmer with a Felco hat.

Every telecast of an Iowa game shows corn being harvested so the last thing we need is corn in the corners to be picked up by almost every camera angle. I say plant soy beans instead.
