Illinois to Legends

The only thing remotely close to the gayness of a typical Scorpio post is one of his faggoty gifs. They are not clever, they are not funny, they only serve to epitomize the latent homosexual tendencies that you so clearly possess.

OK, I'm sorry, but while olddude had impressive quantity, he cannot touch the quality of this meltdown. I'm half convinced this is Skorp trolling himself in a massive meta-troll to build his legend.

You mean you did not create that stalker that was responding to all your posts?

If Rutgers has success in the conference, Iowa and Wisconsin can forget about pulling the good kids out of NJ ever again. Rutgers can make the same pitch about playing in grand historical stadiums in front of huge crowds and they'll be close enough to home for mom and dad to go to the games.

Yeah well maybe Kirk and the boys will have to get off their ARSES and go find other territories to recruit. Hell Mizzou is now aggressively after players in Mississippi! There is SOOOOO much freaking talent in Louisiana it's ridiculous why not try there for a couple kids?

Michigan - Ohio State
Michigan State - Indiana
Nebraska - Penn State
Illinois - Purdue
Northwestern - Maryland
Minnesota - Wisconsin
Iowa - Rutgers

I like this realignment of the cross rivalries except I would do MSU-Maryland, NW-Indiana. No real reason there, just like it better. Mich-OSU, MN-Wiscy, Ill-Purdue are going to keep their rivalries. Nebby-PSU actually works out to be a pretty good manufactured rivalry. The rest is just matching them up. Getting Rutgers would be the best option IMO other than Wisc and that ones not going to happen. NYC is a great place to visit. YES Rutgers is in NJ and may be an hour or two away from the city - BIG DEAL. As mentioned, NYC has a pretty big I Club, games there are great. Flying into NYC on a Friday, taking a train to the game early Sat (I can see those train rides being pretty damn entertaining) taking a train back to hit up NYC Sat night sounds like one helluva road trip. Having that option every other year would be great IMO and could help with recruiting out east.

What would really suck is if MSU and NW got Maryland and Rutgers and Iowa was stuck with Indiana.

And what would that cost you, moneybags? How much are hotel rooms in a major metro like that, compared to, say, Bloomington. Champaign, or West Lafayette?

I drive from eastern wisconsin to all of iowa's away games...most are a piece of cake. I did fly to the pitt and drove a rental car to happy valley. I always stay a few miles outside of the game site city and pay about 1/2 the price for a nice motel room. do the same for home games...stay in CR. I have a budget, man. I am retired and do season football and basketball tickets, so have to watch the $. Fly to NYC? Fly to Baltimore? Pay $300 a nite for a hotel? Pay 50 bucks for a meal? Are you kidding me? Sorry, but I don't live in your world. I would have to give up a week in northern Ontario fishing walleyes on a wilderness lake to go to a game at maryland...not going to happen. Let ruggers, mary land, psu, THE osu, and the 2 wishagain schools, along with illanoy (since they are really in chicago), form 1/2 of the conf. that cannot count and let the rest of us play in the real Big Ten. End Rant.

this is an edit: geez, I am really proud of this message, after 2.5 black russians. pleez don't pick on me, i'm old.

We have been getting some really good rants lately. Well done!

after 2.5 black russians

lightweight. but in regards to your post, yeah it's more expensive to go to those places (NYC, Balt/DC) but it's because people actually WANT to go there. I like the idea of going to either one, make a vacation out of it. Both those areas have so much to do and see besides just the football games. I see Hawk fans treating those road trips kind of like bowl games. They'll be mini-vacations with an Iowa game to top it off. Too expensive to be done very often for most, sure, but very much worth it once in a while.

I went to the PSU game last year (at PSU). Met a lot of Iowa fans.

Funny thing though....most of them were from the east coast (Maryland, PA, VA, etc).

Away games to Rutgers/MD will draw Iowa fans for sure....just not always from Iowa.

I argued this very point earlier in the thread and I was mocked for my efforts.
I mean, not every Hokk fan lives in Des Moines, or Ankeny, or Windsor Heights, or Durant.
Some of us actually live on the East Coast. And we would travel to MD and NJ to cheer for our Hox.

You made a good point Scorpio. Lots of Hawk fans out there all over the place.
Same argument can be made for FL/AZ bowl games.
Yes....there are crazy #'s of hawk fans who show up. NO!....they are not all from Iowa. Far from it.

As for expansion....good move. Super-conferences will become the (soon) norm as teams/leagues align themselves for the impending (and long over due) playoffs. Sure it'll be 4 teams for awhile, but it'll amp up to 8 and 16. Teams in crummy leagues will suffer when the teams are selected on SOS and such by a committee instead of the current idiotic system of voting/homerism/water-down computer.

Only regret here is we never got ND. ND and Missouri, IMO, would have been the ultimate add-ons. Now that ND is having a good year, they'll never ever join a league in FB.

ND, blecch. I just can't share your desire for that school to join our Conference. No, thanks.
