I'll Believe It When I See It - BBall Rules Changes and Enforcement

Better increase to six personal fouls in Big Ten play...don't see this happening overnight, but progressively otherwise no need to change other rules like lowering the shot clock.

How will Sparty and Bucky play defense? Man we'll see offensive explosions vs the 53-54 snorfest that is Bo-Ball. Sparty has the horses no doubt to play any style

I find it hard to believe that all of the sudden the NCAA will allow Michigan State and Duke to have every player foul out at halftime of every game.

If they actually start calling fouls on handchecking, etc. then teams will adjust. They will have to.

That said, I remember hand-checking being a "point of emphasis" many years ago.. So not sure what happened to that. So maybe next year hand-checking will be a P.O.A., but the year after that, it will shift to something else, and on and on.

Just give me a fairly officiated game, where the same things are called on both ends of the floor, and I will be happy. Yeah I know, I live in la la land.

This is so very correct.

I hate to get my hopes up, but if hand checking, arm bars, and bumping ball handlers off course is actually called............good night, we could actually see some real basketball being played!

I guess what happened to that is the block/charge call became THE point of emphasis, leading to it becoming too deep and complex, and everything else being neglected.

It would be a good starting point if they can implement some of these proposed rule changes, but there are still other issues that need to be addressed. The product simply isn't very good right now it reminds me of where the NBA was 9 or 10 years ago.

Strongly disagree

Here is more details on officiating:

NCAA set to vote on key rule changes; shot clock likely to remain - CBSSports.com

"-- To try to improve the game and make it more free-flowing, there will be emphasis on the current rules (on pages 109 and 110 of the rule book) regarding hand-checking and cutting. This was the case a couple of years ago when the NCAA emphasized cutting down rough play in the post. The issue here is consistency since refs work different leagues and there is no one governing body that has any legitimate power over all the officials. NCAA director of officiating John Adams truly only controls who works the NCAA tournament but has little to no juice over individual leagues."

In bold is a disturbing remark. I wonder if the head of officials in the B1G will step up?

What will happen is things will be more closely called OOC..then conference play starts and the same old crap will seep back in...otherwise Wisconsin will go 0-18
