And you can bet that changes of some sort WILL HAPPEN.....because that is what the REAL PROGRAMS do....this only infuriates me more when compared to Ferments. Changes that will come after going 61-6 during his tenure at OSU....this is also what REAL COACHES DO.....they are NEVER satisfied and are always trying to improve....loyalty has no place at real programs when you are not pulling your weight. Did I mention this is on the heels of going 61-6!!!!!!!

BTW, it looks as if this columnists is willing to give his opinion....several Iowa Sports Columnists that I have corresponded with use the cop out that their job is only to report the news and gauge fan temperament ...not add personal opinion. I call BS to that!!!

Come on, Iowa is not Ohio State. Just stop it. Filling your head with all of those delusional thoughts. Stay grounded. Stop chasing unicorns. It could be worse. It can never be better.
 
In a different thread someone said Marc Morehouse twittered: "Iowa is traditionally a 7/8 win program."

M.M. must be a fan of common core mathematics. If this board was having this discussion in 1980 Iowa at that time was traditionally a 5 win team. That changed with a coach who actually had this exchange with a reporter pre-season 1988:

Press: "Coach, when do you think Iowa will be at the level of Michigan and Ohio State."

JHF: "I think we're there now."

He really did say that. Did he believe it? Only he knows. What we do know is those programs were a measuring stick for him. Kirk's measuring stick is obviously very different. The contract is a window into his measuring stick. People whose goal in life is to make 30K will probably never make it above 25k. Kirk obviously set a salary goal higher than King Midas. So why can't he set lofty goals for Iowa football?

I thought of the following fun fact last nite after I'd calmed down....do all of the idiots who say we can NEVER be Ohio State or should NEVER be expected to be Ohio State realize that Iowa LED THE BIG 10 in conference wins for the ENTIRE decade of the 80's!!!!!! It's not a fluke when you do it over a DECADE of time!!!!! Iowa fans who believe and buy into this bull shit way of thinking, are just as bad as the AD who keeps extending this joke of a Head Coach.

Honestly won't make a difference. KF is the captain of this ship. And the glaring weakness is recruiting talented WRs, which has always been KF's achilles heel. The run game is there; I'm not a fan of GD but he can only use what he has. It's like giving Michelangelo (please don't torpedo this argument--I'm not comparing GD to Michelangelo) playdough and expecting him to carve the statue of David. Fire Ferentz. It's not like GD can create game breaking downfield passing plays without top flight receivers and a hobbled QB who KF decided to leave in the game for God knows why
 
That article is proof that unless you are winning the NC every year nobody is ever satisfied and think the answer to every loss is firing coaches.

I find debating about our coaches to be a meaningless exercise, the Hawks are in bed with KF and he chooses his coaches. I get message boards are for debating but this is a topic that is pointless.

Iowa's sports media are a bunch of little girly men, afraid to call out coaches and programs for fear of losing access, believe me when I tell you that.
