If KOK was OC yesterday

He would have completely shredded that Nebraska Defense yesterday with Rollouts and Play action all day long. GD is a ******* JOKE!!

Pretty sad when we are clamoring for our old worn out less than average OC versus what we have now. Perhaps it has more to do with the buffoon that hired them both? Some other poster said it right that if we had Baylor's offensive coordinator we'd still see the same lame plays we see today.

Ultimately fans ran off KOK for the perceived grass is better on the other side. It will probably happen again with KF and we will need to start over throwing us into the abis for several years. We continue to ***** about salaries. After KF leaves the next head coach should be paid by the victory.

Not so sure the outcome would have been any different. I dont see a whole lot of difference between GD and KO, which means the common denominator is KF.

No damn way this is even REMOTELY accurate.. lmao!! You really can't be serious..lol

I don't think he would have made much of a difference with Jake at QB. Fumble, interception, and at least 10 passes thrown behind the receiver. Thinking KOK, or anyone, could make silk out of jake's sow's ear is a bit wishful thinking.

Lulz. Most fans hated O'Keefe. I personally thought he gave us the best chance to win because he was relatively conservative and called plays within the terrible players we typically have. Davis has gotten guys open downfield, but he is calling plays like he has Colt McCoy or some big arm tossing the rock, which is part of the reason guys get open. No need to cover guys beyond 30 yards deep if you know the QB can't toss it that far. But anyway, fans disliked O'Keefe and Ferentz hired a guy who was markedly worse than him as OC. Oh, and fans hated Lester Erb so Ferentz hired a guy, well, I won't say he is worse, but watch the tape of coverage from yesterday and make your own decisions on this clown running special teams. Oh, and watch the RB tape, too. Ferentz is the anti-Fry at hiring assistants.

Jake wouldn't have been starter for KOK.

Think back to the bowl game against Missouri where Iowa had to convert the 3rd down to seal the victory. KOK called one of the greatest plays I have seen. Point is GD would never have pulled that off. I would take a KOK back in a heart beat!

I think you may be thinking of the 3rd down at the end where it was 3rd and 3 and Coker had been punishing Mizzou all night. I was on the phone with Happy Chef and I said "I guarantee O'Keefe runs a play action here." Sure enough, fake to Coker, the entire Mizzou defense bit because everyone but O'Keefe and his nearest adherents thought it would be another run up the gut. Bam. Reisner for darn near 40 yards. Has this moron OC ever managed to get the TEs open? I mean really, really open? I guess he did once against OSU, but aside from that, anything? O'Keefe would hit the defense with at least one deep pass to the TE every game, and often it was early and made the defense think twice about loading up the box, but this idiot calling plays just has no idea how to take what the defense gives him.

What I don't get is if you're Ferentz, how don't you go out and find some up and coming o-coordinator? I don't mind replacing O'Keefe if it was with someone who kind of revamped what we are doing (and Davis has but it is not within our players, namely our QB, to execute it) and not some washed up guy who got run out of Texas.

Yes that was the play I was referring to. Such an awesome call...I miss KOK

If KOK was still our OC, CJB would be our starting QB....no different than when KOK had to get KF to pull his head out of his a$$ concerning starting JC over Stanzi...

The problem with KOK is that everyone does remember that 1 play because it was about the only time he did something creative so it sticks out. If we had a good OC for 13 years we would never remember "that one play".

KOK would have been much better for Iowa than GD.

Although, the biggest play call blunder I thought he made was in 2010 when we were playing Wisconsin and it was 4th & 1 and only like 13 seconds left, and still out of field goal range which was the key. They had been passing on the Badger defensive backs pretty well and instead of running a pass so we can down the field and feel good about a chance for a field goal he runs the sneak and runs precious time off the clock so their only ended being enough time for one play and we couldn't get a field goal attempt. If we had won that game, 2010 might have had a lot different outcome.

One play. I saw plenty of 3rd down fails with KOK, too.

Honestly, I don't remember criticizing KOK, much, when he was here, and I've been posting on message boards, since his arrival in 1999.

I know some posters would always criticize him.
Yes, KOK was the weak link, compared to Norm Parker, but, he seemed to know how to use the strengths of our offense.
Yes, KOK would have shredded Nebraska.

Explain your bias against Davis. This season's offense is one of the most productive and prolific of the KF era... I just don't understand the bias against Davis. Are some of you parroting what other posters have posted?

This team's biggest flaws were in the defense... the back seven. Not the offense. This offense KEPT Iowa in games this season.

To respond to the post of the OP: Nebraska shredded Iowa's defense with passes that took safeties and backers out of the box which allowed Nebby to run the ball better. Iowa's defense was shredded.
