If Kinnick would get renovated again???

If Kinnick would get renovated again what would they do???

My guess - make the north side look like the south side. They might not have enough room to do this. What do you guys think???

Good question. Yes. I would think the N Endzone would get the next face lift. Perhaps more of bowl as well? I would think this is a ways off with BBall and FBall practice facility taking priority, but still......

They may want to close the corners completely if they do a new renovation. I don't really mind the semi-open corners, but if they were going to change anything, that would be my first bet.

I don't know if it would be possible but I would like to see upper decks above each endzone to increase the capacity to around 80,000 to 85,000. I know an upper deck on the East side would never work.

The east stands can't take anymore weight according to the last study from the last renovation. The road north of the NORTH endzone poses a major challenge. My thoughts would be a total rebuild of the north endzone then add a little upper deck feature to the top. my guess they would add 5k-10k seats. Would be great if they enclosed the south endzone to keep the noise in as well. I really think they should add another scoreboard like the jumbo one on the north as well

I think you could destroy Evashevski Drive and replace it further north, perhaps on the other side of the cooling plant. That would certainly add more capacity, but even more exciting would be extending the pressbox around the north border then filling in the seating capacity gaps around the stadium.

we really are missing the tiger hawk at the 50 - and that is a whole lot cheaper than painting the water tower

I think the University is very happy with a 70,000 and change capacity. I think that they believe that Iowa just doesn't have a big enough population and alumni base to, year in and year out, sell out a larger stadium. Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State have some of the largest alumni bases in the country, as well as a large population base, to draw from, so yes, 100,000+ works for them.

Sell outs are very important to athletics departments. Besides non-sell outs looking really crappy on TV, and being bad for recruiting, why spend all of that money building capacity when there is no guarantee it will get used and return the investment?

On the surface, it seems like common sense that bigger is always better, and as a matter of selfish pride we'd all love to match up numerically with UM, OSU and PSU, but we are who we are, a low population, rural state. Des Moines would be a relatively small town in Ohio. As small as we are, we need to be VERY PROUD that we almost always actually do sell out 70,000+.

When/if they ever renovate Kinnick again, unless the population of Iowa tops 5 million by then (by 2060, who knows!), there is next to no chance that they will increase the capacity.

I must respectfully disagree with that. Logos in the middle of the field (even one as AWESOME as the Tigerhawk) just clutter it up. I like a nice, clean, crisp field of green with white stripes. Leave the painting for the end zones.

I was just having a discussion with a friend about this after reading about Nebraska adding 10K to there stadium capacity. I honestly don't think we are very far off from adding another 5-10K. As long as the football team continues to have success the season tickets will continue to be in demand and therefore could fill more seats.

Now if they were to do this I think they would completely reconstruct the North endzone and make it bowl shaped and/or add some what of an upper deck on that side. I also agree that they need to add some type of scoreboard/video board/ribbon electronics on the North side.

Painting the water tower would also be a good thing to do but do not add a midfield logo.
