I stood up, walked outside, and vomited.

My parents house needs new carpet now from all the pacing...between my mom saying 'he's going to throw and interception I just know it,' to my dad yelling at the defense for just costing us the game we couldn't stop pacing. Then the phone started ringing after the game from family and friends....what a DAY!!! It's GREAT to be a Hawkeye.

Lesson one: Do NOT watch Hawkeye football in a room that has overhead light fixtures! :) About four years ago, I jumped straight into the light in my ceiling fan. No broken glass or anything but I clocked myself a good one...never again!

Anyway, here's a story you might get a kick out of...this's my first chance to write it up. On Saturday I was visiting my niece's college in Kirksville MO. I had planned all along to just watch the game from a sports bar down there or something. Well, it turns out Kirksville hasn't invented satellite TV yet...everything's cable and no BTN. Stupid Missouri. I ended up driving 45 miles back into Iowa just to watch the game. Found and listened to Dolph on the way, then I got to South Fork Restaurant/Bar/Motel in Bloomfield IA in time for the 2nd quarter, in a bar full of Hawk fans (great place BTW, plug plug plug plug) :)

You better believe the place WENT UP when we won on the last play. People were yelling, screaming, and falling out of their barstools. :) Once things calmed down a bit, I went to call my sister (also an Iowa grad) from my car, and found out she had been visiting somebody all evening and was waiting to get home and watch the game on DVR. So I not only had to not tell her about the game, but managed to successfully fake "disappointment" in my voice, to throw her off. :) The best part was when I had to say my "phone was acting up"; it kept beeping with all my other relatives trying to call me, which I couldn't tell her either because then she'd KNOW something was up. And I had to hang up before she could hear people coming out to whoop and holler in the parking lot behind me. :)

Me and my fmr. college roommate were watchin the game @ his apt. - when McNutt caught that pass.......me and him locked eyes, hugged each other on the couch uncontrollably while yelling "OMG.......they did it!"
5 mins. later - I had yelled so much, I didn't have a voice....but I was still pumped!!!!
So I went outside in the rain with no voice.....and yelled as loud as I could -"Suck on that Sparty.......we're 8-0!!!! Whooooooooo!!!!"

Having gone to the game with some MSU fans I work with, I tried to hug them in the stands. Odd moment. I didn't want to celebrate too much being in the middle of MSU fans, I kept hoping security would come escort me out of the stadium.

Well, the good news is that I got the new big screen HD TV today that I've been pushing off getting.

Now, why did I get a new HDTV? Because my cat was asleep on my foot and when McNutt caught that pass I jumped into the air, which set off a unfortunate series of events. Number 1, the screen got demolished by a 15lb cat flying right at it. Number 2, I had to bandage up the cat and peel him out of the corner under the bed. He finally came out this afternoon and is fine now... Just got freaked out by the yelling, screaming and profanities yelled at that moment and right afterwards.

Number 3, the GF got mad at me that I also scared the dog and made her pee on the carpet... Thank god she wasn't on my foot or I would have been in the hospital from the GF for hurting our dog. I do however have a charlie horse on my arm from her slugging me.

Reading all these stories are great. My heart sunk, and then TD. What a finish. We were jumping up and down high fiving. One of my friends got piled on and he might have torn his achilles, he is still layed up today. He told me it was still worth it, great stuff....

Haha...great stuff TC!!

I had about a dozen people in my family room watching the game and we were all obviously really nervous when that last Iowa drive started. My 12-year old pipes up with, "You know whenever I go to the bathroom at a restaurant the food comes. I just feel like if I go to the bathroom things will go better." So we all jokingly send him upstairs to the bathroom. He hears the screams of happiness when we get it down to 1st and Goal and couldn't help himself. He comes back down and everyone in the room just points to the stairs and are like, "Nope...get back up there."

I still think I was more in shock at the end of the Cap One bowl game against LSU, but this one was a lot more fun because there were so many people at my house to celebrate with. I saved that Cap One game on my DVR for at least 9 months and if I was ever having a bad day I'd just watch the final play followed by the shots of the dumbfounded LSU fans.

If reputation was working right now, you'd have some from me, awesome!

By constrast... the bar we were in pre-game in East Lansing had several Black and Gold clad folks cheering for isu. So much the staff changed the station so the game was not on and we would shut up. At the Hawkeye Huddle there was applause and no boos when the score was announced.

tough to be a cyclone fan i guess

My brother was in a bar in South Bend after the ND game (he's a Domer alum.) A couple of jagoff clone fans were cheering against Iowa...he asked them why in the hell Iowans were rooting for a Michigan State team. They said because of all of those damn Hawkeye fans from Des Moines.

He informed them that he was one of those damn Hawkeye fans from Des Moines and informed them what a couple of pathetic losers they were.

Good stuff coming from a highly-respected doctor.

FWIW, he told me that my gag reflex was completely normal under the circumstances.

I grabbed my mom (72 and might weigh 95 #'s) lifted her up and spun her around in the air while she was screaming bloody murder! LOL Then I jumped on my dad (71)! I'm 44 btw... LOL

I was at the Front Row. You could really feel the tension leading up to the end. People were yelling "come on Hawks" but the tone wasn't that of encouragement but of despair. Then, Stanzi hit McNutt, and the place went apesh*t. People jumping up on the booth seats, man hugging, high fives, a drunk chick running around and tripping on a chair and falling face first into the floor, only to jump up immediately and start running around again. A few minutes later stepped outside for some air and the people leaving were getting in their cars and laying on the horn. Some clown fan drove by and yelled "Hawks suck" and some drunk guy threw a beer bottle at his car barely missing it. Good times.
