I shot a 74 today

OKRe: I shot a 74 today

Not very familiar with CR courses. We have a course in Gardner, KS that is not very well maintained, either.

Still can't believe there is a 7 page thread about shooting a 74
But it's so much more than that. It is our collective triumphs, woes, angst, glory, and struggles with the magnificent and aggravating game of golf.

Played in a 4 man last Saturday. 35 mph wind from the south and of course all the par 3's play north to south. Nobody reached a par 3 all day. At least not that I saw.

I played a 3 wood from 150 yd hole #7. The highest ball I've ever hit in my life. Damned thing almost went into orbit. 20 yards short. If not for a creek in the way, I would've just slapped a driver along the ground.

The wind was ridiculous, the golf hilarious, and I had a great time. Throw in some beers and the fact that we flighted out and got our money back, it was probably the best time I've ever had on a golf course.

Actually Gardner in Cedar Rapids is in pretty nice shape for a muni. The fairways take a beating due to all the traffic, but they've made some nice impromvements. Several of the greens have brand new collars which are very nice. Overall it's a very solid muni, and hands down the best muni course in CR. The first 13 holes at Ellis are better, and it seems to be in better overall shape, but the last 5 holes there just ruin the whole course for me.
