I really miss Mr. Davis

OK, pop quiz.

Many coaches have a favorite phrase or word they tend to use often. Mr. Davis had a favorite adjective that he frequently invoked.

Anyone remember? If not, I have a great clue.

He’s not going anywhere for 5 years so there’s not much point of this.

Well I hope those 12 will enjoy playing in front of a half full CHA next year.

Could very well be. I thought about driving 3 hrs and taking a day off work for a midweek game a couple of times this year. Glad I didn’t.

Who wants to go watch a team win 60% of your home games (important games — ones that aren’t road kill 300+ RPI teams) and a couple of those losses you’d have to pay to watch an ass kicking.

Not me.

Mr. Davis's curse was that he followed Lute Olsen, and Olsen went to Zona and won ships.

No. He followed raveling and that was his blessing. As soon as he ran out of ravelings players, he turned into ferentz. An avg iowa coach that can’t recruit top talent to iowa

Mr. Davis wasn't a great recruiter, but he seemed to be able to get the most out of the players he had.

I miss the knitting lady. Maybe she will be back next year for another stint as the poster child for Iowa basketball.
