Hypothetical question

We are one point behind Mich after scoring with 2 seconds left. Do you go for two or tie it up and go into OT?

OT. We can punt this year if needed to pin someone back, and we can make field goals.

Special teams play is an afterthought, but more often than not it’s what decides overtime games.

Tough decision, if your offense has been working well I would seriously consider going for 2 pts but the crowd would be against you with noise (although many hawks fans have told be Mich Stadium is not that loud). If it is lower scoring game maybe I kick the PAT and trust your really good defense and kicking game in OT.

Not sure if you meant punting in OT which would or should never happen.

Absolutely go to OT. Hawks just aren't that creative in short situations. They tend to just line up and try to muscle through 9 man boxes. With only 1 try, against Michigan's 9, I don't see it.

CIP - took 3 tries before Petras barely broke through to end the game, yesterday. Then again, it looked like MT had the entire roster in the box.

Yes and I think there was a stat that the hawks are zero for last six 2 pt conversions with not very good looking plays

you go to OT if you're iowa. now, i think i understand what mack brown was trying to do. i think he realized his kids were playing out of their minds and clemson's minds weren't in the game. i think his calculation was what are the odds we win in OT? so, when you're trying to (re)build a program you want the program to have the mental state of mind that we are going for the win. at least now brown can point to this defeat and say "hey, we were going for the win and we just didn't make the play." clemson didn't beat us, we just didn't make the play, or we would have won. i actually agree with his decision because he's trying to (re)build NC. Remember, mack brown build NC into a powerhouse before he went to UT.

as for iowa, we're well beyond that status in our program under ferentz. with iowa, you play the odds and go to OT, even on the road.

Hasn’t it been since 2015 or 2016 that Iowa has had a successful 2 point try? Win it in OT.

UNC had converted 3 or 4 4th downs on that last drive, so obviously they had confidence they could get it done. Iowa, otoh, would be gambling on BF's short-yardage play-calling. Kick it!

I didnt like North Carolinas choice of a two point play where the jet sweep type motion player was going the same direction as the actual option play they ran as all that did was pull more defenders to the actual play.

I would have had the jet sweep motion going the other direction to take probably two defenders shifting that direction then go with the option the other direction but who am I to criticize.

We had one last time we played Michigan. I honestly can't remember another time one has worked. We might seriously be 1 for the last 15. I'd be really curious to see a stat.

Yeah terrible call. Clemson's way too fast for that.

Agree, but punting wont help in college OT.

Vs. Mich... go OT

Vs. Wisc or OSU.... roll the dice for the win. Corner fade to smith.
