Hypothetical question
Hasn’t it been since 2015 or 2016 that Iowa has had a successful 2 point try? Win it in OT.
This is such a KF stat.

While I'm sure they were heartbroken by the close loss, I can guarantee that the North Carolina players were stoked by the decision to go for the win in regulation.

Given the game circumstances, I'll take my chances with what they did vs trying to trade back and forth in OT with Trevor Lawrence in the red zone.

Kick it. I trust our defense to win it and Harbaugh to lose it. I also hate seeing one play decide a game.

Take the easy points and rely on your D to hold them to a FG and your Senior QB that is second in school history in TDs to get a td in OT.

Seriously, though, don't let Michigan be that close. Run the quick crossing routes that they have trouble covering in their man scheme, and methodically drive the ball down their throats behind an excellent O-line. Talent wins out if you give it enough chances.

I think the ISU gameplan works vs Mich - bend, don't break, sustain drives, and keep them from going over the top. Stop the run and put the game on Patterson. Take the points when you can get them. Worry about the scoreboard, not the highlight reel.

You only go for 2 in a situation like that if there’s a clear disparity in talent or a serious injury to a key player that would hinder you in OT.

Given NCs serious lack of talent compared to Clemson, they made the right call to go for 2.

As it relates to Iowa v Mich, you kick and take your chances in OT.

Pretty simple. You go for the win. You have one play, 3 yds to win. Away game. Momentum from just scoring. You go to that holy grail, ark of the covenant area of the master play sheet and you get it done. Hard to be criticized for trying to win. I like the odds of making 3 yards for a victory. One play, 3 yards for the win. You go for it.

The game was at N. Carolina I am almost certain from the interweb.

I dont agree with taking chances in OT. So many variables. A turnover, penalties, bad luck. Odds are in your favor to make 3 yds on one play vs 3 to possibly 10 plays. Perfect opportunity for bootleg throwback to the strong side. Let him slip through the traffic back to the weak side wide open. You still have 2-3 options play side also. Brandon Smith on a wide side slant straight down the LOS and fly into the endzone like this week.

My answer was for the Iowa Michigan game scenario :) I don't care about Clemson UNC
