Hypocrits everywhere on this board

Let's rewind a week or two. If you called Lil Lick a scrub or worse then you were chastized. Now with Tucker finally announcing his transfer and the rumor about Brommer popping up those of you that shouted the loudest and called our opinions of Lil Lick uncalled for and unnecessary are now openly discussing how pleased you are that AT is finally leaving Iowa and that he was bad for the team. Some of you are also calling Brommer a bench player and say that you wouldn't care if he transfered too. Stop throwing stones in your glass house.

You guys are treating Lick like he's the frickin' pied piper and you will follow him and support him no matter what happens to this program.

Lil Lick has done his best and tried his hardest

Tucker has been arrested twice and academically ineligible missing more games than he played

Big difference. That said I still think most people wish Tucker the best but it was probably best that we part ways.

Defections are Lick's responsibility period. If you were to ask him he would say they are his responsibility too. Losing players like he has is a red flag. Most a couple weeks ago said any more defections and that would put them over the edge and would support getting rid of Lick. Now it is ok and we will get better players to replace them. Who are these better players??? He hasn't got any yet.

I think many people never expected to see Tucker play again for Iowa. I didnt. I dont put that on Lickliter. They gave him another chance.

With regards to Brommer, he was a part of their first real recruiting class. He has not played much and that is a coaching decision. IF he should decide to leave after this year, then it didnt work out. Transfers are a part of sports and they certainly accompany coaching changes that bring in new philosophies. Some players don't pan out the way you think they might. That happens.

Here is the thing; Lickliter is going to get a 4th year. I have no doubt about that, unless for whatever reason Todd doesn't want it, and I don't see that happening. I think it's likely he gets a year five.

So we can sit around and ***** about it every day on the boards, or we can wait and see what the new crop of players does to the players that will be back and what kind of team they can have. NIT would be awesome, though I would not expect it. NCAA in year five would be a must.

I only type this because I have put myself through the same filter.

Well said, JDavis11.

I think most were saying if any of the key core of players (Fuller, May, Payne, Gatens, Cole and Cougill) transferred he should be fired. I was ok with Tucker not coming back and agree with Jon that Lick appears to have handled it well. For the record I don't want Brommer to leave as he has done nothing to suggest he is a bad teammate or student athlete. All I am saying is if Brommer transfers it is nothing like losing Freeman, Peterson and Kelly. Brommer has been passed by Cougill already and Archie can fill his role next year.

As far as whether Lick can replace these players with somebody better...I agree his track record hasn't been good but I am hopeful that he has improved his contacts/approach in the last 2-3 years and he can get better players. If he can't than he is probably done.

This.

urohawk, you never disappoint with your posts. Thanks.

Saying Tucker shouldn't play again after being suspended from the team 3 times is a far cry from saying John shouldnt play again because he sucks.

Saying Brommer transfering wouldn't hurt the team or bother the poster is a fary cry from saying John shouldnt be allowed to play again because he sucks.

No one is claiming either one of these two guys are scrubs. It seems you lack the ability to differentiate between civilized debate/honest conversation and personal attacks for the sole purpose of character assasination.

I can recall recently a thread that was started who suggested Brommer was terrible and a wasted schollie that got immediately deleted.

Coach Lick stuck to his guns & didn't give in which is very important. Coach McDermott got into some hot water with how he handled his problem child recently by going back on his word & playing him before he said he would. He lost some credibility with that decision. So far, coach Lick has not by setting the bar with his discipline. He set a precedence with the Tucker situation & this will hopefully pay dividends in the future for his teams. Is Tucker the sacrificial lamb, maybe? But, he put himself in that situation. I personally did not see Tucker playing again & I think we could all tell Coach Lick was moving on.

I agree, hypocrites everywhere. Those that wanted Lick gone for whatever reason were pi$$ed because he did not spread his classes out well enough and he did not have a scholly to bring in another pg. Now he may have two, but the same people want him gone because he can't retain players. Player retention may be a problem, but I could live with Tucker, Brommer or even Archie. I hope Brommer and Archie stay. Anyone else and Barta needs to address the problem. You talk about throwing stones in our glass house. Hopefully those stones don't shatter that mirror that you need to be looking in.

Dude...nicely stated.

I would expect to read a post like this from two sources.

1. Cyclone Fanatic.
2. You.

I've been a Lick critic but support how he handled this one. Unlike Colvin and ISU, Lick stuck to his guns and sent a proper message that took precedent over wins. I have much more respect and it's obvious Lick sticks by principles.

I'm gaining more excitement as I read about the class of 2010 and the progress they've made. May has been a pleasant surprise. Fuller is healthy (stud) and Gatens has been a decent player. Even Cougs stands to make a good contribution and he has been dinged a little. Cully makes way too many TO's but is a freshmen and is learning through the school of hard knocks.

I might be one that changes my tune on Lick and cutting ties with Tucker is a big first step for me. I'm feeling next year will produce a winning season so I'm not as gloomy as I was the first 2/3 of the season.

It's pathetic if you ask me how every little incident/ game/ coach quote ect.. turns into a big pi$$ing match around here. 90% of the people that post here share many common thoughts, concerns and hopes for this team and just want to talk basketball.

Why is it that nothing can happen without a bunch of duma$$ banter?

Why is it that the 5% minority is allowed to have so much influence on the direction of discussion of the board?

I'm not suggesting everyone be positive about everything but quit drawing lines in the sand that don't need to be there and talk basketball not other posters. Geez.

Good for you Hawkdoctor.
