Hubbard?

I have no inside information, but I have a pretty good feeling about Hubbard.

I could see the class rounding out with Hubbard, Glover, and hopefully Olaseni.

I think if Olaseni gets an Oklahoma offer he is gone, but if he doesn't, my three seems to be possible and, throwing in White and Oglesby, a step in the right direction.

Amen to that.

I wouldn't mind seeing Stokes in the mix, either. Katenda seems like a stretch right now and I get the feeling the Olaseni ship may have sailed to Oklahoma.

I can't imagine Fran whiffs on all of them, though. I would hope we see some combination of the names being tossed around.

Peace out.

God I love the sactamonious porch sitting freakin iowa people. They were why I moved away 30 years ago never to return to live. My daughter lives in Ankeny and my extended family lives accross Iowa but I can only take about 7 days of the "judgemental, holier than thou" mini minds that I have to interact with. What he did was as a youth and we don't know where his life was at that time but the way he stood up and faced the crowd when he visited and took full responsibility for his mistake told me a lot about who he is an who he will be. As far as a 25 year old playing BB with 18 year olds? That question is being asked by someone that has never played before. BB player are BB players and they don't care about age. Only the porch sitter do that. I played 18 holes of golf at Grayhawk in Phoenix today with two 20 year olds and a 25 year old. We spent 5 hours together and have plans to play again this weekend. I am over 50, and I don't feel weird about playing golf with younger guys or girls, IT'S GOLF. Once you get the hell out in the world you will realize how much you porch sitters have wasted your life worrying about stuff that is meaningless. I hope to hear he committed on the 23rd of this month.

God I love people who stereotype a whole state, good stuff. How brave of Hubbard to take full responisibilty after he was caught by police and thrown in jail, what a great young man. And no one cares about 18 year olds playing with 25 year olds, it's 18 year olds playing with a 25 year old who's been in prison. And as for your golf course exploits, I have no problem with an old man trying to bang some 20 year old boys, it's legal. I just have a problem with people committing illegal acts, like breaking into a home and beating someone.

The ignorance of some people here is breathtaking. So, you're from Iowa and you're holier than thou? You're against Hubbard coming to Iowa and you're a hypocrite who sits in your church pew but then don't believe in the concept of forgiveness? As if it's really that simple. All of this talk really brings out a hidden hatred for Christianity by some of these people. You believe in God and you don't think Hubbard should come to Iowa you must be a hypocrite? Unbelievable. And for the record, I'm a Christian and I'd like to see Hubbard given a chance. However, I respect other's rights to feel contrary.

The comment that really got under my skin in regards to Hubbard was the one that basically said that good people don't do what he did. THAT is a VERY un-Christian thing to say.

I'm a little nervous about him. But, as a Christian, I think that I need to trust him. He's stayed out of trouble for two years, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Uhhm yes, good people don't commit armed robbery. You really have a problem with that statement?

You've never met the man, so yeah, I have a problem with that statement. People CAN turn their lives around, whether you want to believe that or not. But go ahead and condemn him. Nevermind that he's paid his debt to society and kept his nose clean.

Drunk drivers are still considered good people, even if they hit and kill someone. And don't give me the "intent" argument. That's not much of a moral high ground.

He was just recently arrested for assault, but the charges were dropped. Not sure that is staying out of trouble. More like getting lucky.

Since when does everyone have to be christian just to be a little weary of a felon on our basketball team? Or redneck? Get a life people.
I wouldn't be allowed to hire this kid where I work so yeah it feels a bit weird to give him a scholarship.

How many NCAA teams have a convicted felon?

You mean ACTUAL convicted felons, or players who should be? The answer to the first would be not many. The answer to the second would be quite a bit higher.

I looked it up....he was charged with misdemeanor assault in January...but the charges were dropped.

"'It was a misunderstanding between two girls and I got caught in the middle of it,' Hubbard said. 'One girl took out charges, but then dropped the charges.'"
After prison term, Hubbard gets second chance at FCC - The Frederick News-Post Online
I guess I am just a little bit weary of this...to me "keeping your nose clean for two years" is not getting charged with another assault even if the charges were dropped. He seems to still be in some bad situations, either he still lacks judgement, or he is the unluckiest guy I know.

Lets not forget that by all accounts Dominque had learned how valuable his opporotunity was and etc...and it came back to bite us.
Same with Tucker...

Wow, what a very unchristian answer. How are you judging players on other teams who you have never met?

Am I misunderstanding you or are you insinuating that it's fine because every team has players that "SHOULD" be felons?

Because I am wondering where that logic is coming from, I frankly do not believe a lot of teams are carrying players who: 1. assault, 2. steal, etc yet have not been caught....hmmm.

I think we all need to take a step back and remember what a wise philosopher once said:

"I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever."

I'd bet there are quite a few cases like Clayborn's, where they plead down.

All charges were dropped. But if everybody who got into a barfight (IDK anything about the incident, but I'm guessing that's what it was) was a bad person, well this would be a pretty evil world.

Idk about that, but he should have had the sense to not get into a bar fight knowing that he is being given a second chance....or maybe that's just me. And I am guessing the girl didn't just make up the assault charge he had to have done something.
