Hubbard to Wichita State

I haven't found anything that confirms this is true. It's pretty hard to fathom that we basically conduct a CIA investigation on Hubbard before offering and WSU casually hooks him up after he flamed out at Iowa. I think it is safe to say that wherever AH ends up, the administration will take a long look at him and ask lots of questions.

Hopefully McCaffrey has the old Great White tune Once Bitten Twice Shy on his Ipod and listens to it a few hundred times before trolling for problem children in the future.

I love how this thread was hijacked by people who just want to **** on Iowa.

Yes, Iowa hasn't been good at basketball in many, many years. Some idiot is saying that he want's to go somewhere else for a better chance to go to the tournament? We all know Iowa has been worthless for years. Unless he's the stupidest person who's ever walked the face of the earth this kid also knew that.

Nothing's changed in the last few weeks.

Iowa would not have let Hubbard go, without any transfer restrictions, just because he all of a sudden realized his chances at getting to the NCAA tourney was better with WSU. Where do some of you get this stuff from?

Regardless of what Barta says in public, I still maintain that Hubbard screwed up in a rules, but not legal, capacity and was shown the door for the best interest of both him and the school. That's the story I heard the day after the news broke and it still is what seems the most logical.

Agree that Hubbard leaving had nothing to do with how many UNI guys were on his team, Basabe eating his McDonald's fries or thinking he needs to play on a better team. The dude was LUCKY to get a chance to play college basketball period and HE screwed it up and caused McCaffrey and Iowa hoops a PR black eye. Trust me, other coaches know what McCaffrey did for this kid and understand what kind of a person pulls this type of stunt.

I am more disappointed that Hubbard was apparently our best / only option after all the effort the staff put into recruiting. Hubbard leaving is a blip on the radar, but the lack of options that required McCaffrey to go trolling for this kid is a bit disconcerting. Safe to say Glover will have bring his A game when PSU plays Iowa.

If I was a coach...I would have to be VERY desperate to touch this kid...too many red flags and such.

What do you know that I don't? What did the problem child do?

Commit a felony, I suspect?
Didn't he go to jail for that?

Sounds like he will end up at St. Peter's in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (same conference as Siena). Went from Big Ten to Missouri Valley to Metro Atlantic. That is quite the downfall.

So the Hubbard mystery deepens. Why in the world would he, on his own volition, leave a Big Ten team, to end up at a MEAC Conference team. If he wasn't dismissed from the Hawkeyes, I can only surmise that he felt he was out of his league in the Big Ten, which makes little sense given his success playing in the PTL against his teammates. Hard to believe this remains a secret.

That's what you can surmise? Maybe he left because he didn't like Iowa, got denied admittance at Wichita St...and then had to go to his last option.

Not saying it is smart at all, but I don't think for a minute he didn't think he was good enough. That is just plain wrong.

If you read my entire post, you would see that even I don't think his leaving for that reason makes any sense. I just wish someone that knows the truth would just tell us why he left so we can all quit the speculations.

Have a feeling whatever happened at Iowa isn't flying with other programs. Perhaps this is why there were no transfer restrictions put on his release. Iowa knew it was going to be difficult for him for whatever he did at Iowa to get accepted elsewhere.

Hopefully programs will stop giving these kids 18 chances. It would be a good life lesson for some of these kids to learn their BS has consequences. What price do these kids pay for failing to honor their commitments time after time after time? Answer ---they don't . Somebody will always take them, give them another chance after they spew a bunch of crap about learning lessons, maturing, honoring their mom, etc. High school kids have learned well from the NFL and NBA.

If this is true how do we not know what happened and why he left Iowa? Seems like a case like this would come out in the media.

You don't think coaches call coaches (or more likely, assistant coaches call assistant coaches)? I'm sure anyone Anthony has contacted has been in touch with Iowa to get the scoop, even through back channels. Sooner or later the story will come out.

I'm just saying that I am surprised it is taking this long to come out being that he is searching for a school to attend and running into road blocks because he possibly did something while in Iowa City to get him booted.

I am not a pot stirrer and think people should just let it go. However I heard another rumor last night at work. My friend at work who is a former Iowa offensive lineman told me he was reading in a recent addition of "ESPN The Magazine" in an article about athletes that had been in trouble with the law but went on to the pro level. Near the bottom of that article it mentioned Hubbard and how he has changed his plans to play for Iowa because he received a million dollar offer to play in the league over there (over seas). Now this is according to what my friend said he read. How credible is that magazine I do not know.

I was doubtful but he said he would bring the magazine in and show me the article. If I can verify that it is in the magazine I will let you all know.
