Hubbard coul play for another B1G school right away

Rumor I heard, and you can delete if you feel it necessary Jon, but rumor is that he had a run in and possible assault of a female in IC. Fran had no choice but to tell him he was gone.

If true, why didn't the university release say he had been dismissed from the program, unless this was a major face-saving by Fran and Barta? If that's the case, wouldn't be surprised to see the you know what hit the fan. (Delete this as well if you wish, Jon.)

I heard he was abducted by aliens and the government ordered Iowa to make it look like he left on his own accord to help cover it up. (Don't even think of deleting this JD)

I don't know. Like I said, just a rumor I heard from a guy in the media. I would imagine that they didn't want the PR nightmare from having taken this chance on Hubbard only to have it backfire in their face.

The fact of the matter is that he turned out to be a risk regardless of how much we (or he) thought it could work.

As far as granting him his unconditional release.......I don't see any upside to making his release conditional. Some would simply interpret that action as sour grapes. I believe it would invite more controversy by elements that like to stir the pot.

Time to move on and let Mr. Hubbard become a risk somewhere else.

If this was the case;
1. Why was there nothing on the police blotter about it?
2. Why would Barta give him an unconditional release and then wish him well? Don't you think that Barta's statement would have been more along the lines of "he has been dismissed for violating the U of I code of conduct".
3. I believe that Fran was out of town on a recruiting trip when this all went down, and wasn't even in contact with AH.

Too many quesitons and not enough answers, I know. But IC is too much of a fish bowl for something as serious as an athlete assaulting a woman to go unpublished and unable to confirm.

I think it is a class act on the part of Iowa to give Hubbard an unconditional release.Too many coaches and administrators put limits on transfers to cover their butts.

As for reason Hubbard left, I honestly dont care. I know it is a slow time for Iowa sports news so media and posters can become obsessed with a story.

Time to move on!!!!

Its time to move on. Karma is a *****. We are getting what we deserve and he will get what he deserves.

Why is it bad karma to give a guy a second chance after wrongdoing in the past?

Though I'm not a believer in karma I'll humor the thought and say for him to quit is bad karma upon himself.

That doesn't make sense as the U took a huge PR hit when not taking care of the Satterfield & Everson assault the best. It would be a huge PR risk if they tried to cover-up any assualt on campus by an athlete at this moment. I just don't think they are that dumb, but, who knows.

In hindsight, we all probably should have been a little more concerned about the "it was nothing" incident that happened while Hubbard was at the Maryland JUCO.

If this was the case;
1. Why was there nothing on the police blotter about it? Maybe it wasn't that serious and the police weren't involved. It may have been a verbal abuse, who knows.
2. Why would Barta give him an unconditional release and then wish him well? Don't you think that Barta's statement would have been more along the lines of "he has been dismissed for violating the U of I code of conduct". He may have wished him well to save face, it could have been a mutal agreement for him to leave if there was a problem and this way instead of both parties having egg on their face they part ways like this.
3. I believe that Fran was out of town on a recruiting trip when this all went down, and wasn't even in contact with AH. This is true as Fran was in Chicago, but it is the 21st century, a person can be miles and miles away and be in contact with someone. Just because Fran wasn't in Iowa City doesn't really mean a lot.

Too many quesitons and not enough answers, I know. But IC is too much of a fish bowl for something as serious as an athlete assaulting a woman to go unpublished and unable to confirm.

If something like that happened, and I have no idea one way or the other, then I HIGHLY doubt the language that was used in the press release would have been used. You don't wish someone well who had done anything like that. So I have a hard time buying that one.

Given the language that was used, I have a hard time buying anything nefarious.

Sorry....Our Karma stems from the late 1990s when we didn't renew Mr. Davis's contract and hired a UI ***** in his place. Our Karma has nothing to do with Hubbard..

I see you found your Thesaurus. Wow, where did that come from? :p

Unless you're embarassed by the fact that you recruited a felon, and that it back fired on you. IF something happened, he likely wasn't arrested. It could easily be something that would require charges being filed and AH disclosed the incident to the staff and they decided it would be better for him to move on. This is all hypotetical of course. I really don't care why he left.

A possible scenario. I'm not sure the staff would rush to disclose a brush with the law in this instance.
