How would B10 bottom five fare elsewhere?

Tonight's game was painful to watch. It was ugly. The only good thing that could be said about it is that it lived up to expectations.

Which got me to wondering, how would the bottom 4 or 5 of the Big 10 compare with teams in these so-called "mid-major" conferences:

Horizon League
Missouri Valley
Mountain West

Here are the Big 10 bottom five teams with their league records and overall records:

Northwestern 7-10 18-11
Michigan 6-10 13-15
Iowa 4-12 10-19
Indiana 3-13 9-19
Penn State 3-13 11-17

With the girls high school tourney coming up and the the style of basketball we play I think the real question is would we win the 4-A Girls State Championship? I'd say if we hit 50% of out treys we'd have a great shot.

NW has lost steam,but did beat ND and ISU on back to back nites. I think they would beat most of the bottom five teams in the other leagues and will make the NIT.

PSU ,right now, would beat most bottom five teams. They are playing very well, and are a dangerous team in the BTT...they have talent,and the mystery is how they lost so many close games,games they basically blew at the end to teams they had beat...

Michigan can beat a UCONN...if they are shooting the three well..like Iowa,way too dependent on the 3pointer,and so on a good day they easily beat bottom five teams,but on a day they are missing...not good.

Iowa and IU are not good, altho Iowa is a bit better right now due to Aaron Fullers inside game...best sure bet game to game on either team.

IU has been horrible since Creek went down...they beat Pitt in December with him, now could not beat many bottom five teams without him. They have lost heart,and unless they hit their outside shots,are just bad. Cannot believe that Minny let them beat them in Bloomington last month...Gophers probably miss the NCAA due to that loss.

I always thought it woulb be interesting to have a post season tourney in some warm location like the Bahamas or Hawaii that would pit the bottom 4 or 5 teams from the top 6 conferences. It would be a reward to the fans of these god-awful teams for sticking by their schools during tough times. I think such a "Loser's Tourney" would be fairly entertaining. It would help players work on stuff for next year. Problem is.....who would go?

The players wouldn't even want to be there. Well, they may want to be there but not play basketball.

Northwestern would win the Valley or the Horizon, Michigan would finish near the top in both of those conferences as well due to the mid majors struggling more with Harris and Sims. Iowa, Indiana and Penn State just aren't good and would probably finish in the middle or toward the bottom in the MVC and in the middle of the Horizon. Northwestern might finish 4th or 5th in the MWC. There are some solid teams in the league, New Mexico, BYU, San Diego St, UNLV. The rest of the B10 teams listed would be toward the bottom of that league but still ahead of CSU, Wyoming and Air Force.

Not to encourage this type of post......

but the game last night had the flow of a womans game.

I think this is a great idea, totally serious. Of course the devil might be in the details, as usual. Once you are there, if its a decent place to watch BB, you'll have fun.

Well don't act surprised when the team that won the primetime league didn't have an Iowa player on the floor. Brommer sat with his ankle. Two players from UNI (Ali and Adam) and a Kirkwood player(Kaylon) along with EJ Hicks(Indian Hills) and outside shooter Joens. They walked thru the team of Cully in the semi's and Gatens in the finals. This season was absolutely no surprise to anyone that was there this summer. They wouldn't have a first round bye in the MVC tourney meaning a 7,8,9 or 10th seed. Heck the savior everyone wanted back went to the Valley (Ind. St.) only avgs 9 pts in a soft pre-conference schedule then blows a knee and he is still wanted back. I think the some people on here are like the recruiters..they can't recognize talent and can't recruit. OH do I miss the days of the Shoe on the pocket radio.

MVC
Michigan should win it but while they have athletes they are not a good team = 4th
NW = 2nd
Iowa = 5-7
Indiana/PSU = 8-10 with one of them battling Evansville for the cellar.

MWC
NW or Michigan might sneak into the top 4.
The others bottom half but not at the bottom.
